Mosul dam break anytime killing 1 million people

This has been tracking since last year when ISIS overtook Mosul - either killing the people maintaining the dam or causing them to flee.

Unlike a dam like say - the Hoover Dam which might last for hundreds of years if abandoned, the Mosul dam was built on a highly porous substrate that requires constantly pumping in tons of concrete to shore it up.  Add to the fact that ISIS looted most of the machinery from the dam, the sluice gates are stuck and the water is rising in Spring melts, and they say it could actually break at anytime.

Scary stuff with no easy answers.

Why? So innocent people will die and ISIS can celebrate it as a failing of western society?

Innocence is truly subjective. Anyone who has willingly stayed in Mosul aint innocent, or theyre enslaved and brutalized so death will be a good release.

And in what plane of existance does a dam breaking count as the "collapse of western society"? Theyll just celebrate it because its something breaking...plus, Muslims built it.

Those monkeys will attribute it to some farfetched omen or portent with the water being the Unstoppable Tide of Islam and the dam is the "crusader derpaderps of Rome"

Again, hope it breaks - we could put a few 5" Zunis into it and call it a day.

No loss of human life is to be celebrated.

It was built by the Swiss, Germans and Italians - who no doubt profited handsomely.

What gives you any inkling that I CELEBRATE the loss of human life?

Life is hard and slow the you die - in a perfect Tumblr-esque world there wouldnt be civvies in the city and only the barbarian hordes will be killed.

Fact of the matter is sometimes people dying is necessary. Its not pretty, it goes against my Christian values but thats the way its gonna be.

Regardless of who made the dam ISIS thinks its apostasy that it stands anyway

Much as we might like to believe it, the ISIS leaders aren't stupid. Would they care that tens of thousands of their own died? Not a lick. Would they blame it all on the west? You bet your ass they would.

"Look at how the monument of the west collapses and murders our innocent women, children, and infirm..." And it would only get worse from there.

In addition to being the worst disaster of its sort, it would also be the biggest propaganda coup of all time.
