Gen 2 19...talk me into keeping it

I have a Gen 2 19 made in December of 88. It has the Austrian proof marks and original box. I've been going back and forth for a few weeks as to whether or not I should keep it. Of all my Glocks, I shoot and carry it the least. The newer glocks fit my hand substantially better.

The only reason I have kept it this long is simply because the Gen 2's will only get harder to find and I was born in 88 so there is the sentimental factor. I have a feeling I could get a decent amount for it and I could use the money for some other projects.

Am I crazy for wanting to get rid of Glocks early example of perfection? I should mention I have another G19 and a GSSF coupon that would enable me to buy another one at a discounted rate.

Unless you need the cash or the space, I'd keep it. It will only continue to go up in value over the long run, and while your GSSF cert will let you get a G19, it won't let you get a Gen2 G19. That's just me, but I rarely sell any guns and then only when they're a commodity item like a current production Glock. I've sold a few older ones for various reasons and wish I hadn't, if only for the fact that they're now worth substantially more than for what I sold them. I won't do that again unless I have to.

It's really a personal decision. If your reason for wanting to sell the Glock is because you don't shoot it a lot then think about it this way. An owner of a classic car doesn't drive it a lot but it has sentimental value and/or they just like to show it off occasionally. Either way, its value will only grow.

I tend to amass Glock 19s rather than part with them.  It seems silly at first to keep more than one of them, but when you stop and think about how damn practical they are, it makes more sense.  I have them scattered about now, in vehicles, a couple of places in the house, etc.  There's something to be said about having a standard weapon platform with plenty of mags and holsters and such always at your fingertips.

Keep it.  :)

I do the same thing with M&Ps. I say keep it. Everybody needs a bathroom gun. Seriously. You just found yours.

It's probably defective by now, everyone knows how Glocks don't age well.  For $25, I'll take it off your hands and make sure it's golden years pass quietly.  ;)

I'll do you one better: You can ship it to me and I'll give it a good home, make sure it gets fed well and exercised. And, I won't even charge you the $25! :taunt:

Just put it away and don't let it bother you. You'll probably be happier in the long run if you keep it.

The older Glocks with the Tenifer finish are AWESOME!!!  Can anyone explain to me why they quit doing the Tenifer coating?

I say Keep It, but please pm me if you do decide to sell it ;) !  I have a mint Gen 2 G17 that I will never part with.
