Nashville area boat mechanics yays and nays

Recommended Posts

I'm going to have to break down and take my boat to a mechanic.  I have to have the crankshaft seal replaced and it requires a special puller to do the job.  I spoke with one local Mercury mechanic who I trust and know several people who have used him, he does not have the puller.  There just aren't a whole lot of Mercury service centers in Nashville.  There is at least one that I will not use due to a previous bad experience.  I would like to know of any experiences that anyone has had, specifically with The Boat Locker, C.O. Marine in Gallatin, and Clark Marine.  I'm in Mt. Juliet so I would like to keep it as close to here as possible but I'm willing to travel a bit to have it done by someone who is trustworthy and knows what they are doing.  Also the motor, though it is a Mercury was made by Yamaha the best that I can find, don't know if a Yamaha dealer would service it or not.  I haven't had any experience with Anderson Marine but I have talked to them on the phone a couple of times and they seem decent on the phone so I'd like to hear opinions on them as well.

Thank you.  I had an experience at Riverside that would keep me from doing business with them again if I can keep from it.  It may be an okay place to take your boat if you don't care how much it costs and want to use it some time next year.  I called Clark while looking for a part recently and I was impressed by talking to them on the phone, that doesn't carry a lot of weight with me though.  Franklin is a long way to drive but I don't mind it for good honest service.
