If I appreciate my Yeti for one thing, it's that my wife won't touch it.

Fill that dude up with fish a couple of times and it'll be right where you left it the last time you cleaned it out.

Yeti's are amazing from what I hear. The wife story I understand very well. I have an igloo marine that I always ice down crappie when i catch them to transport home to clean. I can scrub and clean it with baking soda and everything for camping, but she won't touch a thing in it!! LOL

I liken these coolers to other brands like G. Loomis poles, Nesmuk knives and Holland & Holland shotguns.  You are paying for quality and you're getting it.  It just happens to be a level of quality most of us really don't need and probably cannot utilize to max potential.

This is very true. Quality costs money and it's great for those that can afford those kinds of items and/or have a real need for it as in daily use. Like tools for instance. When I worked, I bought the best quality tools I could afford for that very reason. I probably don't use a cooler more than 3 weeks out of the year and use a more budget priced one. The one I have now for camping I've had 10+ years and it keeps ice for 3 days at least if I keep it up off of the ground. I've learned if I put a small rock on each corner and keep a 1" or 2" air space underneath it it helps keep ice by at least 1/3rd longer. Works for me anyway.

In a previous boating life, we would anchor out for the weekend. We learned by pre chilling the cooler (ice it down 2-3 days out) and freeze about 1/2 the water bottles for additional ice, with good cooler discipline, we managed for years with a Rubbermaid on wheels and an one of those Extreme 5 day models.

Start googling marine coolers or visit West marine, boaters world, or Overtons.

The Yeti may be on the high end, but salt water, high uv, high use coolers cost.

In your late 20s and want a lifetime cooler, go for it. I'm almost 50, so Coleman and igloo got  my biz.
