They had a 9-11 sale

Like KKing I can't go so far as to say I am thoroughly offended but I will say that the commercial was completely tasteless.  I honestly would have been okay with the 'any mattress for the price of a twin' thing but the two guys knocking over the stacks of mattresses at the end was going too far.  That part did turn my stomach a bit.  I'll bet you a plug nickel that the person who came up with this ad is a 'millennial' who isn't old enough to actually remember 9/11/2001 as something they actually experienced and certainly not something they experienced as an adult.  To them it is just something that happened in history and doing a commercial 'spoofing' 9/11 probably doesn't seem any more odd to them than doing a funny commercial about Visigoths sacking Rome.  Keep in mind that many of the incoming High School freshmen this year probably weren't even born then and many 'young professionals' were likely no more than nine or ten years old.  I am not saying that this makes it any better.  What I am saying is that it appears that many millennials don't have the wherewithal to realize that their viewpoint on something isn't necessarily the same as everyone else, especially people not of their generation.  The people appearing in the commercial seem to be fairly young, as well.  Then, again, there have always been people willing to do anything if they thought they could make a buck off of it so my theory could be entirely bogus.

I think it's true that many millenials and younger crowd just think of 9/11 as something else that just happened in history. The problem is that the attacks on 9/11 are vastly different than say Pearl Harbor. I have tremendous respect for those that lost their lives in both attacks on America, but young people need to understand that the enemy that killed us on 9/11 has not been defeated and is still trying to kill us. It is important to teach our children about all of the threats to our great nation (foreign and domestic), and we must truly never forget.

When I first saw the headline I thought it was a tribute to David Robinson & Tim Duncan. They were called the twin towers back in the day. I thought the mattress company wouldn't be callous enough the gimmick 9/11But then I saw the video.

I only watched it about 20 seconds into it . I am not one to get offended easily but this was really bad . This newer generation of people have no morals and no respect. This is pretty much using the September 11, 2001 attack as advertisement "pitch" . Any person , I swear should understand that ! I guess these morons don't. Very disrespectful , Very bad !

I completely agree with you.

I've had to stop from posting on this thread. I get so wound up I just want to scream to Heaven over it. And usually end saying some rather unkind things to boot.

The lack of respect from our countrymen is mind boggling to me. I was raised to be polite, thoughtful, and courteous of others. Say the Pledge of Allegiance, stand for our Flag and National Anthem.

Seems that those values, and many others, have been forgotten.

I'd say that those involved in the video have now had a dose of reality dumped on them and aren't likely to do something as insensitive and disrespectful pertaining to 9/11. I'll also say that as crass as the add was it doesn't merit the level of continued outrage that appears evident. Best advice is to recognize the naivety of those involved and keep on moving, I suspect the store involved will end up going out of business now.

I'm not offended, but dear lord their marketing person needs a beating for being that stupid.

That's pretty much where I am. It was a tasteless, stupid ad but I don't think it's quite worthy of the death threats they've received.
