Nashville Gunsmith for shotgun work

Recommended Posts

Need a recommendation for a gunsmith in the Nashville area.  I've had this shotgun for a while and last year the polychoke that came on it blew off.  I took it to a local smith that was supposed to silver solder it back on.  After 5 rounds it blew off again.

Need someone that can either solder it back on properly, or preferably cut the barrel for conventional chokes and install a new front sight bead.

Hmmm, was the barrel & choke reblued? If it was silver soldered, it would have to be reblued to look that good. Silver solder will discolor the hell out of a blue job like you have there. Silver solder doesn't flow until about 2000F about orange hot. If he used Hi Force 44 solder, You need a perfect metal to metal fit and tin both parts before fitting them. Hi Force only needs 450F to flow so it leaves the blueing pretty much alone.

Good Luck with it

Hi, this is Ben Schade's wife. We have moved to Missouri to be closer to our son and family. Ben does have stage four prostate cancer, but he is doing well. He is not doing any gunsmithing. He enjoyed his time in Tennessee and loved his customers. He always tries to do good work. Right now, he is building me a house.
