How do you like it? I have been thinking of getting rid of my Glock 26 and going this route. I dont like the beaver tail on the new ones (P220 compact), thus I want to search for the P245 model. What is a fair price for this pistol in a desirable condition?

If anyone has seen one for sale in the middle TN area feel free to point me in the right direction.

Thanks everyone!

Never fired one, but have held and examined a couple at gun-shows. They aren't scarce, but you probably won't find one in many gun shops. I thought the grip was reminiscent of the P239, perhaps very slightly thicker front to back. I haven't held a 220 Compact, so I couldn't make a fair comparison. I would expect it to be very similar, albeit minus the beaver-tail. The P220 Compact SAS would probably be the most comfortable of those models to grip and carry, since they will likely not have a beavertail...

I do know that most folks who have them tend to hang on to them, they are as well-regarded, functionally, as P220s. Gunbroker always has a handful which usually sell in the mid-$600 range. I haven't seen a NIB example for some time.

If I find two for sale around here, I'll let you know :D One would become mine.

I've shot a 220ST and my 226 and so far so good. Any Sig will be a good gun, they build a really good product. I put 1000 rounds through the 226 last weekend and it ran without a hitch. Have you shot a gun with a beavertail on it?? If not, shoot one and then base your wants after that. The beavertail allows you to get a higher grip on the gun and not worry about slide bite.

I like mine. They are obviously heavier than my plastic Glock 27. That's really not all bad. The extra weight helps to offset the higher recoil when that "flying ashtray"(45ACP) comes charging out of the end of that barrel. I had two and sold one recently. It was in excellent to LNIB condition, in a factory box with two mags, std. sights and I think I got $675 for it. They aren't scarce YET, but I don't think really large quantities were sold, and many owners are sticking them in the back of the safe. Therefore, I think the prices will steadily go up.

I know I'm way behind on the response to this, as you've already purchased your P245, but...

My husband (then boyfriend) purchased a P245 several years ago for me when I lived in a particularly bad part of Memphis. At the time I had a S&W snubnose .38 that I HATED. He let me try out his Beretta 9mm, at it was nice, although a little heavy for my taste. The minute I tried out the P245 I was sold hook, line and sinker, and haven't looked back since. I shoot regularly, and would not trade it in for anything. I've thought of getting another handgun at somepoint, but can't find anything to measure up to my P245.

Excellent choice, and I'm happy to hear you like it!

Thanks! It is my new favorite.
