Don't keep up with where the comic series is, but seems to me the writers may well have an end game for the series in mind. I mean now that the zeds have become for the most part just a major inconvenience and the real danger lies with other people, what evil can they posit that's gonna be more evil than Negan's outfit? Maybe the Democratic National Committee comes together again? :)

But really, another season or two of Alexandria, Hilltop, The Kingdom, whatever, finally all coming together and defeating evil and setting up the New World and all like that and fade out.

I am behind on the comics.  I have only read to just the other side of the 'Negan' story arc and into the next, major threat.  I don't want to give spoilers but just let me say that there are still other threats out there that are bad enough to compare.

I know this might get my 'nerd card' yanked but I still haven't seen Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.  I know everyone said that Ben Affleck was really good as Batman - in fact, some have said that he was, surprisingly, the best thing about the movie.  I don't hate him as an actor but after what he did to Daredevil it is just hard for me to want to see him as such an iconic character.  Anyhow, this isn't about Ben Affleck and it does have a reason to be in the Walking Dead thread.  I had not realized - until a friend alerted me this morning - that Lauren Cohan and Jeffery Dean Morgan played Bruce Wayne's parents in that movie.  In other words, with Glenn out of the way Maggie and Negan hooked up and raised Batman.

If you haven't seen B vs S, watch the extended version. It's much better. A bit longer, but does a better job of showing the characters and the depth of the struggles, both physically and emotionally, between them.

I had few hopes for the movie, and I'm a die-hard comic movie fan. but this was more than just good, it may just have been the best Superman ever. Henry Cavell was fantastic in it. And as a pitch for his other work in The Man from Uncle  was very good as well.

Was a pretty boring episode compared to last week.  Got the back story on Ezekiel in the same show.  Those pigs were being fed walkers...maybe that will have something to do with the demise of the saviors.  (I haven't read the comics so just guessing)

I'm surprised that these people have not come up with a good way to poison or infect the Savior's through the food they coerce. I also can't believe the Savior's trust the food they are getting. They must have tasters to sample the food before the rest of the lot eats it.

I will say that I was pleasantly surprised that the Kingdom folk feed the pigs infected meat before sending them off to the Saviors. Even if it doesn't make them sick, its a satisfying secret middle finger to the bad guys.

An entire hour on them trying to break Daryl :bored:  Actually, 35 minutes.  I think it was 25 minutes of commercials.  And the backstory of Dwight as narrated by Negan.  Maybe they'll make up for it in next weeks 90 minute show by getting someone "Lucilled"

We used some really interesting white noise the years I was a SERE instructor. Even when I was student, I just sort of giggle at it. That Easy Street crap would have pushed me over the edge if I had to listen to it for three years. LOL

No doubt. I could see going mad listening to that over and over.

Lots of colorful language tonight from Negan.  Jeffery Dean Morgan is probably the best addition to this show in a long time.

Edit to say: Enid was in that room when Rick was asking where the missing guns are.... how did she get out of the closet?

Add more gun mistakes to the list:

Carl has Beretta 92 or M9, whichever.

We hear what turns out to be warning shot, then cuts to Carl cocking hammer manually to further threaten the guy. It would of course already have been cocked by the first shot.

Also, when Negan pulls a semi auto pistol out of the stash and shoots the window, the casing that hits the pavement is clearly rimmed, looked like .357. Now, I didn't get a good enough look at the heater to say, but unless that is a rare Coonan or something, which judging by their track record wouldn't seem like something the writers would even know, that's another muff.

Then, for the trifecta, Rosita picks that same rimmed casing off the ground to take to Eugene to "make me a bullet", for the semi auto she recovered.

That was a Desert Eagle which does come in .357 Magnum.

Good luck to Eugene in reloading that .357 to fit Rosita's 9mm.

Firearms technical mistakes are too plentiful in TWD.  You would think that they'd have someone working on the show who had seen a gun before.

They'll find a way on that show.

i was most impressed with Michonne's high-capacity semi-auto bolt action.  She sure could throw out some lead with that 4 or 5 shot rifle.

Yeah, a Winchester Model 70 with a nine-round internal magazine.  I want one.

Did anyone else notice that if Alexandria hadn't had gun registration -- the "inventory" list kept by Olivia -- the Saviors wouldn't have known how many guns the group had?

Cheers,
Whisper

I think Ricks group could have easily defeated Nagan. He walks right up to the gate with his henchmen in a cluster behind him.  2 or 3 gunman inside the gate, 2 on the walls and a couple in the woods in hardened positions. Negan is the first to go, the others are in a crossfire. Without their leader and dropping like flies the saviors would lose the will to fight

Because of the Morse Code poster on the wall in Rick's house in Alexandria at the first of the episode (which, I admit, I totally missed) some folks think that Daryl blinked a message to Rick in Morse Code when Negan et. al. were standing around at the gate.  Some have even gone so far as to say that he blinked 'West' (or, maybe, 'East') to clue Rick about where the Savior HQ is located.  I don't know if there was a message, at all and couldn't translate it if there was but if there was I think it would be better if the message was, "Merle."  What would that mean?  That would be Daryl telling Rick that he was going to pretend to 'turn' and join the Saviors - like Negan has been pushing him to do - the way that Merle joined the Governor (except that Merle really did join the Governor.)  Then, again, Daryl probably just had the sun in his eyes.

I don't think that one piece of ammo would make much difference, anyhow.  Further, Eugene had already worked out how to manufacture ammo with the facilities they found - remember that he gave the instructions to Abraham before Eugene sat out alone in the RV to try and draw the Saviors away from the group.  Maybe Rosita picking up that shell casing was just symbolic?  Of course at this point - unless the Kingdom has a whole crapload of guns stashed somewhere that they can pass around to Alexandria (and the Hilltop) then Eugene is probably going to have to build some guns, too.  Far fetched?  Not really - I once saw a video about the gun markets of Pakistan that showed a barefoot guy (who I believe had had his tongue cut out) sitting cross-legged in the dirt on the floor of a cave and making knock-off firearms that looked just like the real thing using only hand tools.  The only thing those folks couldn't make with hand tools were the barrels - they had a metal lathe for that.

Reality seldom jives with screen writing. As far as Negan himself, really with Negan taking folks' wives and whatnot, and the general uber debasement and humiliation of his leadership cadre, c'mon.

Somebody long ago would just have said "screw it" and blown his head off, just human nature that at some point rage would make someone care less about his own survival and take revenge. Happens all the time in our real world now.

I figger Daryl will appear to capitulate, become a lieutenant and organize a little revolution, turn the group ethos around so that the Saviors don't all have to be killed en masse.

I would just be happy if Carl would lose that sorry excuse for a western hat.  I mean come on, really, anybody that ever wore a western hat (before Urban Cowboy was filmed) knows that the crown and brim shape is essential to the character of both hat and person under it.  All it takes is a little steam and imagination.  That DXXN hat makes my skin crawl. :grouchy:
