I let this Fellar walk by me this morning at about ten yards. This camera is about 7 yards behind the stand I was in at the time. The larger bucks I had pics of have not shown themselves while I've been sitting stand.

I checked out a lease this weekend that is a new club starting. 4400 acres, it's the old Graham hunting area just outside of Linden. Huge, beautiful place with great potential. There are several openings left, 24 people total. 675$ per year is very reasonable. Can camp on site. Contact info is Michael @ 865-684-6035 if anyone is interested.

That is a "trophy rock" with a good dose of the apple flavored WI "juiced" poured over. First time I've tried either, I'm now a believer.

Love to see the fawns too.A couple of vids from my trail camera. Nothing like the above pics, but considering two years ago I was lucky to see one deer during the summer, I've slowly been getting them back in to the area.

I have a couple of the wild game innovations blade 6 "lights out". They are doing a great job and don't spook the game. I think I gave about 80$ for the last one from Amazon

I would say I'm a hunter not a shooter. My trip was for fun and to make sure my new acquisition performed as it should. It performed fine, me on the other hand.....lol I did bust a few but I was certainly not happy with my performance. I had a blast though at a fine place to go shooting. In my best Arnold voice "I'll be back"

I did go Sunday and check out the trap range at Montgomery county complex. Very very nice facilities all the way around. I will however refer to the trap range as the "field of disappointment". Man i need practice.

Are you a hunting family? Shooting family? Both? If you are a hunting family that Rossi combo is hard to beat for that age group. I bought one for my youngest and it stands ready for grandchild action now. You can't go wrong with whatever you decide, a young persons first guns are ALL heirloom quality to them.
Happy Birthday young man. -
After much looking and tire kicking at the over priced usual haunts for used quality firearms I made a gunbroker purchase. I had a 50's model Belgium made Browning A5 for many years it was torn and tattered but served me well. Let it go in a moment of weakness and one of my other shotguns has been doing double duty for the last couple of years. I wasn't happy with that but managed.
Found myself a 72 model in great shape at what I would consider a steal. I am looking forward to September 1.
On a similar note I hear that the Montgomery county shooting complex has a nice range and offers sporting clays for even someone like myself who is normally a hunter not a "shooter". It is only 12 miles from my house I've passed it many times, anyone have any shotgunning experience there? I'd like to run my new toy thru the paces a bit. I did shoot a few in my back yard just to check operation since I bought a used sight unseen gun.- 1

I shot a Mossberg plain ole extra full for years, killed many turkeys. Then went to a relatively cheap "undertaker" which was a bit better. I recently bought a hevi shot tube and took it to the patterning targets. WOW. I think maybe to tight. I like em up close and personal and it leaves little room for error.
My advice if you go with a really tight choke, at least put a red dot or reflex sight on. Don't trust the old point and shoot with a bead method on close birds. I was humbled by a gobbler at 7 steps last season lol. (I can laugh about it now, not then) -
One of the neatest things(to me) at that show every year is the custom labels from wild turkey bourbon. They will print you a label with your specific wording. All you do is apply it over the existing label. This year it was again for the "rare breed" bottle. Makes a great gift or conversation piece when you break out a bottle of your own label.

I have a Bodyguard .380, I love it. It does melt away. I have a set of custom pocket holsters for mine from Adams holsters. Absolutely the best move I've made holster wise.

The serial number is 126xxx and from a gentleman from another board he thinks it was "restocked in the field to a 1899 carbine spec" . I'm just a ignorant but curious old turkey hunter, I didn't even sleep in a Holiday inn last night.

I have a Springfield 1898, or actually my wife does. (It was the only firearm in a vault belonging to her grandfather when he died about 40 years ago)
I have been in possession of it for about 20 years and winter boredom has turned to curiosity. That rifle has one smooth action. Anyway I have read a bit on the gun and it from the serial number search was made in 1898 (126xxx) and it has a 22" barrel, a "carbine" sight graduated to 2300 yards and a front sight that is not banded.
Do we have anyone here that can tell me if it is actually a carbine or a cut down? I have seen a lot of info that is a bit confusing at best. It falls into the correct serial range from what I can find but I know that is not the tell all.
Lil help.
Thanks -
I have one of those. Santa left under the tree for me about 1975ish, I was also 11. I recently acquired a new grandson, so in a few years he's going to get a new old shotgun that is full of experience.
It was a squirrel and rabbit getting machine when I was a kid.- 1
