  1. +1.... then treat her to a private lesson (or two) with a really good instructor who knows her history with the first class.

That is what I am thinking.  Next time she is back in the Nashville area, I am going to try to take her to a friend's farm where she won't be intimidated by others at the range and can just go at her own pace.  I feel terrible, but had chosen this class based on other recommendations, but it sounds like it was not quite as advertised.

  2. I am looking for a good class for my mom to take for home defense and gun handling.  She has never owned a gun in her life and recently got a 20 gauge youth Remington as there had been several break-ins and my dad is often gone on travel during the week.  I had her signed up for a class in NC where she spends half the year that sounded like a perfect fit for the new gun owner with a shotgun.  Here was the description.

Basic Defensive Shotgun â€“ 4 hours

    **NEW Course**

A 4-hour introduction to defensive shotgun shooting. The course is designed for beginner shotgun shooters and individuals who have a shotgun for home defense.  Course topics include safety procedures, equipment and ammunition selection, defensive shotgun shooting skills, malfunctions, cleaning, and storage. Students will spend approximately 2 hours on the range participating in various shooting exercises.  Students will need a 12- or 20-gauge shotgun for the class.

However, I just got a call from her and she already gave up on the class a couple hours into it.  She said everyone in there already had extensive gun experience and she felt very overwhelmed.  It also sounded like the instructors were moving very fast and they were wanting the students to shoot from kneeling positions, running and hiding behind barriers, etc.  Keep in mind my mom has never even shot a gun before this and it sounded like a good fit for the beginner.  I would take her out and teach her myself, but I do not know of any private areas where I can shoot a shotgun as I live in the city.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a true beginner course (maybe even private lessons) for a woman who wants to become familiar with shooting and safe handling of a shotgun?  Right now I am taking this kind of personally and hope I haven't turned her off from becoming familiar around a shotgun.

  3. I don't see how he knows when it's coming in. They don't tell us anymore, or allow us to have the print out of what's coming in. Must be a manager, either way he's an asshole.

He probably just stashes it when it does come in and not put it out on the floor.  Either way, both of those guys are d-bags.  I went ahead and sent an e-mail to corporate so they can start auditing their Cool Springs store.  They are taking this crap very seriously right now.

  4. Disregard.  I found it and updated your account.  Not sure why the forum didn't do that automatically.  Manual intervention like this shouldn't have been necessary.  Hmmm.

Thanks David...I figured I'd just bring it to your attention since it had been at least 10 business days.  Hopefully it was just a one-time glitch.    At first I thought it was maybe b/c I live in AL or something...  :squint:

  5. Ah yes, the famous elephant walk picture of a handful of kids.  I still need to see like 590 more.  2 Ambulances...great response effort there!

"Source confirms gunman's father found dead in NJ"...great reporting there as well.

Thanks for posting the pictures, but I have seen all those before and I still have my doubts.  If you want to belittle me for questioning authority and the mainstream media, then so be it.  I have always liked doing my own research on things and not just taking what is shoved down my throat as fact.

  6. So basically, you believe that this is a vast government conspiracy that involved the murder of innocent children and the organization of hundreds of people, but they were too stupid to pay attention to minor details like that and put up web pages before it happened?  If that's what you want to believe, then have at it, but I wonder if any amount of evidence proving that scenario wrong would ever dissuade you from what you want to believe is true.

All I am saying is a lot of the facts around the entire thing don't make sense to me.  Where are the 600 kids who were evacuated?  Why are there no pictures or video of that?  Where are the ambulances?  In all the pictures I saw, I counted 3 up by the fire station...why are they not down by the school?  When my wife was at VT during the shootings, there were ambulances lined up EVERYWHERE, as well as EMT and Blacksburg is not the biggest town out there.  Newtown definitely seemed a bit short staffed on the responding EMS.  That is all, something just hasn't sat right with me since I first saw Sandy Hook on the news.

  7. I presume you are referring to the date posted by the website on Google.  That is not a creation date.  It's the last date that Google "crawled" the site to gather info and cache the page.

There were several Facebook pages that showed creation dates of 12/10 on Facebook.  I noticed people were asking about this on 12/14 and their posts were being deleted and eventually the pages were deleted and new ones were created,  Also, the RIP Emile Parker page was created the morning of 12/14 and the first post was from her dad talking about her death.  Who creates a Facebook page for their daughter asking for donations instead of being at the scene trying to figure out what is going on?  A couple hours later it was posted on the same page that the school was on lockdown and they weren't sure if Emile was alive in the school or injured at the hospital.  The timing on a lot of it was just weird.  Call me a tinfoil hat freak all you want.

  8. I think Snopes BUSTED most of the myths that the conspiracy nuts are spreading around the internet.  In all situations like this their is confusion and the media never gets it right. It was a tragic event, there was one insane monster gunman and the government was not involved. Also there are no Sasquatches, no second gunman on the grassy knoll and no spaceship at Roswell.

No offense, but I checked Snopes and they didn't even scratch the surface concerning a lot of questions that are being brought up.

  9. Google Gene Rosen and watch the You Tube videos of his interviews.

He's the man who took in 6 of the children after the shooting.

He has told his story to the MSM many times and changed it every time.

Google H. Wayne Carver. . . chief ME of Connecticut and watch his press conference video on You Tube.

Sally Cox. . . school nurse, changes her story every time she tells it. Videos on You Tube.

A lot of people put out theories, Illuminati, NWO, Satanism etc. I don't care about theories.

But these three characters make me ask questions.

The nurse also stated in an interview to network TV that Adam Lanza's mom was a well-liked kindergarten teacher at the school.  Mrs. Lanza had no connections to the school!!

Here is a link to the DHS site...unbelievable this page is still up.  Must just be one hell of a coincidence.

Also, not many people have mentioned the fact that the car Lanza supposedly drove to the school, a black Honda Civic, Connecticut plate number 872 YEO was registered to a Christopher A. Rodia (born August 1969), totally discrediting the official story of the car belonging to his mom.  There is video footage of the car being towed away and the plates are clearly visible.

  10. I check the WalMart in Paris every week.  They haven't had any 9mm on the shelves for at least a month or two, save some off brand foreign made crap that they wanted $15/50, and they only had 6 boxes of that.  Luckily, I've got a case of Sellier & Belliot currently en route that I got at a pretty decent price.

Prvi is anything but foreign crap...I have used a few different calibers of Prvi and it has always run reliably from my AR to my M&P9.

  11. Does anyone else find it weird that DHS and FEMA had a disaster drill scheduled in Bridgeport, CT (15 miles from Sandy Hook) for 12/14?  The title of the course/drill was "Planning for the Needs of Children in Disaster."  Also, I can still not find explanation as to why some of the R.I.P pages and Sandy Hook Memorial Fund pages were created on 12/10 and 12/11...a few days before the shooting.

  12. I recently purchased a Knights Armament Micro 600m BUIS while out in NC that has USMC markings on it.  After looking, it appears there are tons on eBay as well for ~$40.  FWIW, there has been some discussion online that these may be stolen (and KAC is very adamant about it, although they may be pissed that these are selling for so much less than their commercial version), but I don't believe that as they are available in quite a few shops around the base in NC.  If they were stolen, surely someone would have taken action by now against shop owners and online retailers.  I like it quite a bit better than my Magpul MBUS, although that is another solid option as well.

  13. I hope they don't follow up after the fact and nuke your account for that.

They've got a ton of accounts to nuke then...I don't really sell much on eBay anymore as the fees and way in which they run the site have gotten outrageous.  From what I gather, you can now sell magazines on eBay if they are listed as "under 10 rounds."  The buyer can do his/her own homework and figure out what the magazine capacity really is.

  14. I was cleaning out my closet last night and found a Ruger Mini-14 20 rd. mag still in factory packaging.  I have never owned a Ruger Mini-14 and do not remember when, how or why I had this mag.  I threw it up on eBay out of curiosity w/ a ridiculous price and best offers accepted.  2 minutes later some guy offered me $70, so I sold it.  I hate to feel like I am taking advantage of the situation, but If they want it that bad, they can have it, hence the reason I set up the auction to consider offers.  I turned around and used the $70 to pre-order another AR lower, which I have no idea if I'll ever see it in my lifetime.
