Hello Fellow TGO:
On Mother’s Day weekend, my two boys and I took the Tactical Carbine 2 class with Gilbert Perez at Patriot Shooting Academy in Dandridge, Tenn. I believe in the 2nd Amendment and if you have a weapon, I believe that it’s essential that one knows how to use it safely and effectively. Because the boys and I have had less trigger time with the long gun (vs pistol), we wanted to get better and know that getting training from a known expert is the way to go. After all, didn’t Luke Skywalker need Yoda?
It was an awesome day. Gilbert is an expert shooting teacher, and with his watchful eye, he improved our competency by correcting our errors and showing us how to improve – shoot faster, shoot more accurately, how to transition to multiple targets, shooting on the move, how to use your sights, how to go down quickly, how to shoot more steadily, changing from rifle to pistol – What an awesome day of fun! Who needs Dollywood?!?
It was a tiring day -- even my boys were tired and they are in terrific shape. Bring plenty of water. Bring knee pads, gloves, hat, and ammo. The only break we had was lunch. BTW, bring your food, to save time and convenience. Also, I must add that both of his Tactical Carbine courses (1 &2) are very affordable and worthwhile. You will also leave with a better idea on how to practice at home. I really love the rifle. It’s an awesome tool. Best of all, however, after the “Tactical Carbine 2” training class, if there are zombies, I know that my boys’ mother will be well protected. Happy Mother’s Day!
Also, just to be clear, I have no financial interest in Patriot Shooting Academy.

Yeah I was just poking fun at him. I remember when you were rocking the G26 Ray. You were the OG of CCP.
Yep those were the day when I was using the Glock 26 for IDPA, USPSA, and Steel Challenge! Back then, shooting was fun and didn't matter how I did.
You know I may shoot IDPA with the G26 in CCP, but I'll wait and see. Ha, ha.

Or is that Ray posting the vid? That would make sense, nice shooting Ray! Enjoyed being the squad mom for squad 1.
Hey I hope you know that I was poking fun. Thanks for being our squad "mom" and keeping things moving along.
BTW, Spiffy, Joe did post a video from the match in this thread (and he did shot well) so he got the names right -- "Nice shooting Adam and Joe". But, however, if he thought my name was "Joe" then, that's another matter ha ha :-)
Oh yes, I have a picture of Squad 1 taken at the last stage and you're in it Jeremy. Here's a link (I hope this work bc I'm sharing this from DropBox): Squad 1 Group Picture
Thanks to all the volunteer and SOs who worked the match. Appreciate it very much! :usa:

Nice shooting Adam and Joe! Here's mine. Next stop is Kettlefoot. https://youtu.be/c_GnE37_75s
What? Is there no pity or sympathy for me? I guess like they say if you can't say anything good, don't say it.
Regardless, it was a fun match and glad I did it.

Ok let me test this (with my understanding)..

I don't want to hijack this thread for this issue, but I don't see share. If this doesn't work, then I will investigate on my own or just leave a link like I'm doing now. It's just that having it embedded looks nicer. Thanks again, and good shooting!
-
Joe,
Nice shooting. I will need to practice more.
BTW, how do you get YouTube to get embedded in the message? I don't post much and just saw the link.
Thanks.

This was a great match. Lots of fun stages and many good shooters. Need to improve.
Youtube video from that day . Hope this works :-)

I am working with the MD to finalize some clean up of the stages and wording.
Thanks. Looking forward to seeing the challenge ahead and the fun to be had. I really enjoyed Secret City last year. Should be better this year.
-
Will the stages for this match be posted before hand?
Thanks! Hope to see you all there.

If I did this right, you should see a young shooter (12 at the time) having fun at ORSA.

As many as you want to carry. Double velcro belts are allowed.
As far as the round count, the 8 stages are not final yet but the round count will probably be in the 180-225 range, but bring more.
Are we still limited to 10 rds per mag? Thanks! Sounds like this will be a blast.
-
How many mags are you allowed?
-
What is required for the class? How much ammo do we bring? Hours? Do we bring lunch? Will this be a combination of dry fire and live?
I'm very interested.
Thanks!

How do you delete a post on this forum? I hit "Post" too many times.

It was raining here today so it was good day to work on these videos. I can tell from looking at the video that there are definite things that I need to improve on.
Again, it was a great match, and lots of fun. Thanks again to Mike, Mark, John, all the other SO/RO, and other helpers, etc.I know that this was a big undertaking to make this a success.
P.S. If I'm not posting these video correctly, please advise. Must be doing something wrong. Oh well, dinner time.

Hey Glock26,
thanks for the link. Unfortunately, I got the shaft from them today. I looked at their site and verified the hours prior to leaving to go shoot there.
However, after driving 50 miles to get there, there was a sign at the gate announcing that they are closed on Wednesday for National guard training
which was not noted on their site, or on their recorded message. I should have known better than to go anywhere that is run by any form of government.
I will have to be satisfied only shooting indoors at the Sevier indoor range, this is in no way knocking their establishment, which I've been told by many is
an excellent facility with a great staff. It is more a statement of my dissapointment at having to only shoot indoors in such a beautiful state. I wanted to shoot at both places since I am actually leaving on Friday morning and will not be able to make it to an action pistol type shoot on Saturday. Although It didn't work out well for me, I appreciate the gesture on your part.
Boy I apologize. I've only shot there a few time (shotgun) and that was a few years ago. I guess one really needs to call and verify if possible. That's a real bummer. I hope they didn't blame that on the "Sequester" :usa:

Here's an outdoor facility in Knoxville that you may also consider.
