  1. Ordered another round from Powder Valley through AmmoSeek just now. You can create an account and it will alert you when what you want is found. $198.90 inlcuing shipping for 5,000.

    .039 per primer

  2. I like the setup as well. Very nice!

As I continually age...shame ain't it? LOL...I'll probably seriously consider this concept carry package.

I was, and to some degree still am, concerned about the ruggedness and durability of miniaturized red dots...but by all accounts the current RMR's are holding up quite well.

I definitely like the Surefire light you've chosen.

Very nice holster as well. Looks like good work.

Have you had the opportunity to run the run much yet?

I have put a few hundred rounds through it and it is holding zero so far; at least as far as I can tell. I did use loctite on the rmr to base screws. I know the military use a lot of Trijicon and if it takes the abuse they put it through I feel pretty confident. A high priority for me were the backup iron sights.

  3. So I have just completed my new EDC. It is a Glock 19 MOS that replaced my G19 G4. I added the Trijicon RM07 6.5 MOA RMR  along with the recommended kit, AC32064 RMR Mounting Kit, a SureFire XC1, and a set of Dawson Precision iron sights for backup. I went with the Trijicon over the Burris that I have on my 41 because the Trijicon can be left on at medium brightness for up to 4 years and it was much easier to find sights to work with the Trijicon than the Burris which sets a little taller. I am amazed at how much better I am able to shoot with a red dot on a pistol. As I get older it is harder to focus on the front and rear sites and the target.

The only thing I couldn't find was a holster and most companies are not making one at this time that will accommodate the SureFire XC1. I ordered one from Dara Holsters but they are 8 weeks out.

This next paragraph may sound like an advertisement but it isn't and I get nothing but the satisfaction of recommending quality work out of the deal.  I needed some kind of holster now, while waiting on the Dara to come in, so I did a lot of searching and found out about Bruce here in Middle Tennessee. Bruce is a Firearms Instructor, Gunsmith, and has been making quality kydex holsters for the last 4 years. The holster you see in the images below was made by Bruce for my gun. I am not sure what his normal turn around time is but he had mine made in about a day and the quality and fit are fantastic. I am in no way affliated with Bruce but you can reach him at roninsar@gmail.com if you are interested in a custom holster from a local source. Be sure to put kydex holster in the subject line. Pictures below.

  4. martinjd - Thanks for posting the model numbers of the sights that worked with the MOS system.  The plate makes the optic sit a little higher, so I was interested to see what worked.

martinjd & KahrMan - You both have great looking setups!

Thanks. I think KahrMan might be able to get by with a shorter sight since the Trijicon sits a little lower.

  5. In case anyone is interested in going down the same path I thought I would show pics of my G40 with a Burris FastFire 3 mounted using plate # 5 of set 2 provided by Glock. I used the screws provided by Glock to mount their adapter plate, along with some threadlocker 222. I had read in some other posts that neither the screws provided with the Burris or by Glock would be suitable for mounting the optic. The other post recommended screws from a company named Traxx and gave the following link to Amazon.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006O5IBQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00

I ordered them and applied some more 271 and it was a perfect fit.

Finding sights to act as a backup was a harder job. I had read a post that stated that the Dawson sights would work. I tried them but they were too short. Someone suggested calling Glock which sounded reasonable. They were no help and I would have expected that having provided a means to mount an optic they would have gave more thought to this aspect. They suggested calling Dawson or Ameriglo. Since I had already tried Dawson that left Ameriglo. As a side note I also ordered sights from Saurez but they canceled my order and said they were out of stock.

I called Ameriglo and ordered GST-407 for the front, which is .407 inches tall, and GLT-507 for the rear.

I ordered the holster from Simply Rugged Holsters and specified that it would have a red dot and tall sights. It fits like a glove.

  6. "I feel sorry for the guy, because the kid is just as much to blame. "

I have to disagree. The kid is just that, a kid, and that is what they do. Some might say well my kid wouldn't or that is not the way I raised my kid but kids do things and when you ask them why they say "I don't know". I was raised "right" but I still did stupid things and it is simply by the grace of God that I made it to adulthood.

  7. If you are going to carry a gun you need to be responsible. If you are going to carry where it is posted otherwise then you better not leave it unattended or at least not where someone can find it. If there are children in the building on a regular basis, as in the Department of Child Services, I think you would have to be even more cautious. There are probably some individuals working there as well that would love nothing more than to find a gun in someone's cubicle and see a gun owner get fired. This could have ended up much worse.

  8. My new G40 will be here this week and I am trying to decide which Trijicon sight to get. The RMR06 has a 3.25 dot which would be good for more accurate shots further out but the RMR07, with the 6.5 dot, would be quicker to acquire I would suspect. I don't plan to hunt with this gun so I don't expect to be shooting at 100 yards, not that I can hit anything from 100 feet, but would like to be able to shoot at smaller areas at greater distances and it is my understanding that the 6.5 would cover a 3.25 inch area at 50 yards. Any thoughts from the experts out there? I was also looking at the Trijicon suppressor height iron sights to co-witness if anyone has any thoughts on those or others that are night sights. Thanks
