  1. I been noticing that "no guns allowed" signs are disappearing. The local hospital took theirs down, at least nowhere to be seen. The local post office has theirs down. What's up?

  2. don't to forget to factor in the cost of digging a well, installing a pump and plumbing, installing a septic system and permits needed for everything. monthly/quarterly service fees. if building, cost of electrical poles and wires from last pole nearest to you. just think of what you get from "city" services that you'll need to have and where from. if using gas, cost of propane vs natural. factor in cost of running gas line to your new house. if you just want hunting and shooting land, consider a lease and stay at your home. just thoughts to consider.

  3. when I worked there, there was a 100 yd test to make sure the shooter could keep it on paper at 100 for exactly the reasons stated. too many shooting up the pipes. if you go there, you'd be surprised to see how shot up the 5 yd and 10yd back stops are. another reason why only slugs are allowed for shotguns.

  4. Happened while I worked at a range. The agent walked thru then IDed himself and asked us to report anyone with a silencer or automatic weapon. We told him we check for stamps; no stamp, no shoot. He left. Believe it or not, true story. PS - I am not a dealer, don' t give a rat's a** about gun shows one way or another. Just sharing an experience. I never said anything about charging for a faux silencer; you read that into what I wrote.

  5. The purpose of one hangun and one rifle is logistics. Amorers only need to learn one system, stock fewer parts and keep the soldier in the fight. Supply lines only need to stock one bullet. When the soldier goes empty, he can get a mag fom anyone else in the fight. As an aside, these are the same reasons Tennessee's State LEOs all carry Glock .40s; backup in firefight.

  6. Doesn't TWRA have a gunrange in Bartlett? Supposed to be fairly priced. The 100 yd rule is under hunting regs, which supercede local ordinances. So you can pop a squirrel or deer during hunting season anywhere that's more than 100 yds from habitated bldgs but can't practice any otherwise. Been adjudicated in Middle Tn.

  7. Have a nissan awd rogue. More comfortable than my son's edge. Gets 28 mpg and has ability to lock in all 4 wheels by button if it get really deep. Same price as edge.

  8. I would agree on other matters but this one will only punish law abiding gun owners from Virginia. The people that made the changes are good with depriving their citizens when they travel out of their own state. In fact, it's probably preferable to them.

Letters sent to Virginia Chamber of Commerce. I was formerly stationed in VA and had looked forward to visiting several times in the future. However there are other states that will welcome the chance to profit from visitors.

As of Feb, only UT and VA offer nonresident permits accepted by VA. Wanting not to donate $100 to VA, looked up UT requirements. One requirement is a mandatory training course by a Utah certified instructor. None in TN, few in neighboring States. VA doing their best to soak neighboring States' citizens out of $100. PS - if they reject the applicaion, not appealable nor refundable.
