  1. Sig P226, is a great gun it’s the gun I hand new shooters. The weight of the pistol really absorbs the 9mm recoil and my mk25(a P226) is lights out accurate factory. I don’t know if it’s the chrome lined bore or what. Also I’d highly recommend the Glock 19 for a compact although for a guy my frame size 6’0 170lbs the 19 carries and prints like a full size on me. I hate the fat grip on the double stack subcompact glocks. The Springfield XDS feels good in hand but weighs too much. I have no experience with it but the Glock 43 seems super popular at every gun store these days I have the 42.

  2. I carry the spyderco native daily since Nov. It needs a good edge put on it other than that its a good knife. I won't care if I damage because its not a high dollar knife.

  3. I own a Springfield Lightweight Loaded Champion and the gun is more accurate than me by far. Springfield is one of the few 1911 makers I'm not scared to buy. They stand behind their stuff.

  4. Hey I recently ran across a CZ75D which is the compact version of the CZ75B. Anyways I love the way this gun felt in my hand quite possibly the best feeling handgun I've ever held. My main problem is I can't find a LGS or even a big box store that regulary stocks CZ. Academy Sports has them from time to time but when they have a CZ75D they ask MSRP which is $599.99. I was wondering does anyone know if any of the dealers like Hero Gear stock CZ? Also, does anyone own or have any opinions on the 75D.

    Thanks

  5. I've always had a good experience at VOW, they've got honest answers for honest questions and the prices are pretty fair with an occasional steal to be found. Same goes for Fugate's up by bowater, they've got great prices, good advice and good selection on handguns. Skip's is good too, I've found self defense ammo there for almost less than range ammo! Same goes for GT distributors, a while ago they had 4" 686's for 349! J&M pawn is helpful and they've got a good selection but some of their items are high on the price range (especially what's popular).

On the other hand: Carter's was nothing but disappointing. Selection was good but prices, especially on used items, were not and the service.....well, there wasn't any. Valu Pawn was selling bumper chrome Jimenez Arms for over 200 and used L frames for 600+ the last time I was in there and the staff isn't helpful or knowledgeable.

Are you talking about Valu Pawn in Hixson? I've bought a pretty good bit of rifles in there ranging from $60 to $1300 bucks and they have always treated me fairly if you get to know some of the guys in there they will deal with you and come down on price. I've seen people go in and tell them their prices are high and they usually don't get the response they want to hear. Valu Pawn has some good steals every now and then though, sometimes they ask to much for certain things and I just avoid those deals.
  6. yeah Carl has always been helpful to me as well. as soon as some funds open up i plan on purchasing a Stoeger Coach 12ga from him.

One thing about Carl he will straight up tell you he is going to make a profit off you. Carl gets bad mouthed alot but I purchased a WASR from him during the Obama scare and he treated me right. It could have been because I knew someone who did alot of business with him though and he called and told him I was gonna come buy one from him. I was in Carl's one time though when a black fellow and his girlfriend came in and old Carl went from a great mood shooting the sh** with me to an ahole real quick I guess he grew up in the old south I've seen him be a jerk to other people before. He is leery of taking CC or debit cards he said to me the only reason he took mine is he knew I worked for a reputable company(I no longer work there) and they wouldn't allow trash to work for them lol. He still uses the carbon copy credit card swiper which to me is so old fashioned lol he called the payment and back ground check in over the phone. I haven't been back to purchase anything from him though but I will probably take my permit class there.

  7. Your last question was the winner, hands down. 1911s cost more because buyers are willing to pay more. For whatever reason, gun purchasers find them more desirable than other competitors.

As you pointed out, a .45 in another platform pokes the same holes, and will serve the same purpose for most shooters. The market says that 1911 buyers are buying more than a utilitarian hole punch, based on the prices being paid for them. The combination of looks, ergonomics, history, and customizability are all potential factors in the higher prices, not to mention the buyers' perceived status in the shooting community that comes with ownership of a 1911 vs. a P220, for instance.

A thing is worth whatever someone else will pay for it, no more and no less.

St Patrick is that a democratic Afro Pick in your avatar? I find the 1911 grip style fits my hand perfectly in fact I plan on my first handgun purchase as soon as I turn 21 to be a commander sized 1911.

  8. Honestly I'm biased toward the Springfield TRP I think you get alot for the money and their customer service can't be beat. I can't bring myself to spend $2000 on a handgun that's 10% of all the total money I made last year lol. Ed Brown's, Baer's and Nighthawk's etc. are super nice if you got the cash flow though.

  9. So does anyone know if these Academy Sports that are coming in will be selling guns? I know the other ones do.

What is funny is there is going to be one at Hamilton Place and CBL properties are "gun free" BTW I don't shop CBL properties for those reasons.

Dick's Sporting Goods is on CBL property, I'm pretty sure and they sell guns. As for a good gun shop coming to Chattanooga I hope the Shooter's Depot is a good store. They have announced their range prices and membership levels on Facebook. If we ever get a great shop around here like said already they will wipe out the competition. Carter's gets a big thumbs down from me.

  10. In Tennessee, theft is divided into “theft of property†and “theft of services.†One is guilty of theft of property “if, with intent to deprive the owner of property, the person knowingly obtains or exercises control over the property without the owner’s effective consent.†T.C.A. § 39-14-103.

  11. Sent a polite message to the seller trying to reason with her. Gave a few examples of properly storing the firearm(putting the lock pictured in the ad on the firearm etc.)buying a cheap safe etc. Also explained if there is ammo store it separately away from the firearm, also stated if there is no ammo the gun isn't going to kill anyone. Finally I let her know that if the gun was purchased by her husband and he is the owner she could face criminal charges in the State of Tennessee for theft. Told her also she won't find many anti gun buyers on gunbroker lol. I tried to be polite and to the point without being rude or hateful and get my point across at the same time. I hope she responds I'd like to hear what she has to say.
