  1. Welcome to the forum! Hope you like it here. I’m getting back into guns and shooting after a long hiatus, so always good to have more experienced members around. That’s a very interesting employment history! I’m sure you’ve got plenty of stories! Cheers!
  2. Welcome from another Nashvillian. Transplant, not native, but been here 28 years.
  3. Did you adjust your prescription at all? I added +0.50 to my Sphere (so from -1.00 to -0.50) for my right eye for better front sight focus on my rifle. Cylinder and Axis (for astigmatism) remained the same. And left eye prescription was unchanged (just without the Add for reading).
  4. Welcome from Nashville! Look forward to seeing your posts.
  5. Welcome to the forum and to TN! This excessively humid weather we’ve been having lately must really be a shock to your system. I would check out whatever state parks are in your area. Further east, there is Cummins Falls, Burgess Falls, and Fall Creek Falls. Up toward Clarksville, there is Dunbar Cave. Old Hickory Lake and Percy Priest Lake are other options. I’m sure others will chime in.
  6. Welcome from another Nashvillian!
  7. I definitely struggle with my progressive ‘script, especially with pistols. Not quite as bad with rifles, but the modified single vision is much better.
  8. Prescription glasses for shooting can be challenging. I wear progressives as my daily pair, and they don’t help much for shooting. Where I end up looking through the lens when shooting is at the long distance focus which makes it impossible to focus well on the front sight. For shooting at the range, I ended up getting a pair of single vision safety glasses with a modified prescription for the right eye that lets me focus on the front sight. I ordered these through Zenni. They have very reasonable prices on basic Z87.1 frames and lenses. My need was for range glasses where I can manage without having the full progressives. I don’t hunt, but if I did, I would just need to do my best with the progressives since that would require being able to see close, mid, and far at any given time. https://www.zennioptical.com SportRX is another I have used in the past for cycling goggles. https://www.sportrx.com/ .
  9. I like Otis’ stuff, but it is cheaper to buy the individual pieces you need for the bore and barrel cleaning. Instead of a bore snake, I use their cable with screw-on bore brush attached to pull through the barrel. Then switch to the slotted end attachment to pull through patches. For the rest of it, I use stuff from around the house or that you can get at the grocery or hardware store like @btq96r listed.
  10. Welcome from Nashville! Hope you find it interesting here. Anything you’re specific into collecting?
  11. Welcome to the forum from Nashville! Thank you for your service!
  12. Do you know what year? What’s the finish on it? How many chambers? PM sent.
  13. @Harpers gun repair Sorry, I just bought it this morning. General practice is to post a reply that you want to buy the item, and then send the seller a PM (private message). I think you need 10 posts before you can send a PM. If you don’t have 10 yet, you can ask the seller to send you a PM. Any negotiations on price, specific questions about the condition of the item, working out details on making the purchase, etc, should be done through PM instead of posting on the thread. You and the seller can also trade mobile #s and emails in the PM to make the communication easier if you prefer. These might help: https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/articles.html/community-info/about-the-trading-post-r2/ https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/123375-why-cant-i-contact-a-member-privately-read-this/
  14. Welcome to the forum! I’ve heard good things about OK Corral which is out your way in Murfreesboro. I have not been there yet myself. https://okcshootingrange.com/ And some have mentioned this place. Again, no personal experience. https://middletngunsmith.com/ And then there’s Stone’s River Hunter Education Center run by TWRA (the one mentioned by @Wheelgunner). https://www.tn.gov/content/tn/twra/hunting/firing-ranges.html#stonesriver I live on the west side of Nashville so all of these are a bit of a drive for me. My main outdoor range is the one at Cheatham WMA.
