Currently, I only have a Sig M17x, so part polymer, light, and no safety. As I mentioned above, I like to do draws and two shots and re-holster and run that for 5 - 10 rounds in a session. Again, I am very conscious of my finger, and it feels "safe".

I guess it's the way I set the shot timer, the 5 or more "rounds" are all on one "program". Beep - Draw and shoot two. Reholster - several second pause. Beep - Draw and shoot two. repeat for as many rounds as I programmed it for. For USPSA, I now see where my thinking was wrong, as I'd never reholster a gun with ammo. Just after make ready, and that is not cocked. I do thank you for your help and patience as I try to understand the differences between what I've been using and possibly moving to DA / SA. --- Do you have suggestions for an all metal gun? I plan to look at this at a gun shop in a few weeks, and have heard from at least one person and they do not like the safety. Hence the reason I want to hold it. There are no large gun shops near me, I'll go to Nashville for this which is a couple hours away. https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-shadow-2-orange/

Thank you, I guess it was a many part question. Part of what I do on range training is load a magazine, draw and shoot two, then holster, then repeat 5 or more times. I use a shot timer to see if I get better over time. I think this is my biggest concern.

Prescription glasses

I did not, I just used the prescription straight from the eye doc. -
I am new to shooting. I have owned two polymer, hammer 9mm. I just sold one and am looking to replace it. I want to get an all metal gun and start training for USPSA competition. I don't know what division I'll end up in. Production seems too hard without optics. Open seems too hard because it seems there are almost no limitations, I hear these people are crazy fast. So, I'll likely end up somewhere without a magwell, but with optics. I like to do online research, there are not a lot of ranges around me, and there are not a lot of options for trying out guns. Since I have only shot a hammer style, DA / SA is intriguing, and seems to be very popular in competition. I am looking at the CZ Shadow 2 Orange - optics ready, likely put a Holosun 507 on it. My biggest concern is I do a fair amount of dry firing with my hammer style and it feels safe to put back in the holster. I also like to do draws and two shots and re-holster and run that for 5 - 10 rounds in a session. Again, I am very concious of my finger and it feels "safe". I understand a lot of accidental discharges are human error - well, I'm human, and new. Is a SA / DA just as "safe" doing the live fire drill I mentioned above? I want to be able to re-hoslter and it seems like the only fast way to do that is with it cocked. Decoking (that CZ does not have a decocker) or putting the safety on would make the next draw much harder. Please overlook the ignorance's I displayed, and if you want, correct them. I'd appreciate not being bashed for asking dumb questions.

Prescription glasses
Square Wheels replied to Square Wheels's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Thanks, I just ordered single vision transition, safety lenses -
I did do a search, and saw there were posts on this already, but I didn't see any recent ones. I'd like to get a pair of prescription glasses specifically for shooting. This way, the frame and lenses would be rated "safe" for shooting. I'd like them to be photochomatic and not polarized. I've seen a couple of sites: https://huntershdgold.com/ https://www.caglasses.com/prescription-shooting-glasses I'm sure there are hundreds of others. I wanted to see what others have had good luck with. Thanks!

The rifle is a Sig M400 DH3 5.56. Do you have a suggestion? The more I look around, the more confused I get. There is a lot to learn for a new shooter.
-
For outside, I went with these. For the 9mm, they are fine. They even seemed OK for the 5.56. I tried muffs on top of those, but they still seem to get in the way with the rifle.

I've heard this more than once. As I said, I am new to shooting and am hooked. I want to get better. I watch a LOT of videos, but would prefer hands-on training, and his 7-month course seems pretty intense. I was worried I would not be ready for such a program, or hold other people back, so I emailed him and let him know of the little training I've had. He said he'd accept me into the program. I am excited.

So, yesterday products I ordered from CR Speed (a month ago) finally arrived! Yes, I am new to shooting, but our range has practice USPSA courses. I have had fun. If I keep up with this, I plan to take the TFI Academy classes next year, and then start competing. So, back to the belt. Please understand I am very new to shooting (I already said that), and have never worn anything this cool before. I know I put the inner belt through my belt loops. I suspect I fasten that in the front. For the outer belt that has the holster and mag pouches, do I fasten that in the back? It seems like that would make more sense. Thank you for your replies and not laughing (at least out loud).

I had these for my 9mm, they work just fine. Clearly, the AR15 is a LOT louder, especially inside. I've only shot it twice, and while I like the gun, it is way too loud. Today I added these under the above, they didn't help. I know a suppressor would help, but that's adding a lot of money. Plus, I tried one gun at my range that was suppressed, and it blew back a lot of gas in my face, I hated it. They said it was partly related to the suppressor and partly the gun. I plan to shoot it outside in a few weeks. Are there better hearing protection options? Thanks

According to AI The SIG Sauer M400 DH3 rifle is not anodized. Instead, it has a Cerakote Elite Titanium finish. I suspect it is aluminum as I just tried a magnet against it and it didn't stick.

I kinda like it, plus I just got it. If it turns out I don't like it, I'll send it to you. https://photos.app.goo.gl/HM6uQRXkusUzLzdn8 (I can't post a pic, it's too big)

The gun or the snake?
-
I wasn't, but I will now. Thanks, I'll just pull harder. It's a new rifle, only 60 shots through it, just wanted to test out the snake to see if I needed a new one.

I found an Otis cleaning kit on Amazon. It comes in 14 different sizes, 4 of which claim to fit the 5.56. Ugh, so confused.

Please forgive the incorrect terms, I grew up in MA (not a gun-friendly state). I moved to TN about 3 years ago and love it here. I think there are more guns in my neighborhood than in all of MA. I have a couple of 9mm handguns, a 22 handgun, and I just bought a rifle. All illegal in MA. All this, and I just started shooting in February. The rifle is a Sig M400 DH3 5.56. I've read that my 22 bore snake should be able to go through it. Maybe I'm getting whimpy in my old age, but I cannot pull it through. I looked for a new one, but pretty much all I see say it fits a 223, 556, and 22. Thoughts? Thank you

We moved to Medina from MA about 3 years ago. We're retired and love it here.
