  1. Very true but that doesn't mean that people don't both disagree with AND hate the homosexual and the lifestyle concurrently.

In the original context of that quote, Rick Warren was calling out Christians, basically saying they should learn to love and have compassion for those they disagree with. He was talking about Muslims, btw.

  2. Also this...

"Our culture has accepted two huge lies. The first is that if you disagree with someone's lifestyle, you must fear or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense. You don't have to compromise convictions to be compassionate." - Phil Robertson

I think Rick Warren said that.

  3. I haven't read all the comments, so maybe this has already been mentioned, but Phil has already said that he isn't going to be on the show much anymore. He is tired of it. If you watched last season, in most of the episodes he had a very limited role, often only being there for the closing 'supper table' scene. A&E, of course, is well aware of his lack of interest in doing the show. So 'suspending' him doesn't really change anything in practice. Especially considering that next season is already complete.

  4. But given the filibuster status,as a couple of Dems were saying in consolation today, the original bill AND all the amendments remain on the Senate calendar thorough the rest of the 113th Congress, as they were not actually technically defeated as per rules, but only dropped due to lack of stopping filibuster. And can be brought up at any time they think the vote structure may have shifted, without being resubmitted and going through committee process and all that.

They are keeping their fingers crossed for another Sandy Hook in the very near future.

  5. From: Terry Ashe <terryashe@tnsheriffs.com> -

"Tennessee Sheriffs support the 2 nd Amendment and everything that it stands for"

Well now, that's not really true, is it? 2A stands for more than just guns. I'm glad they chose to uphold their oaths in the 90's, I expect them to do the same now and in the future. I'm sorry, his response sounds to me like he is saying "Hey, remember that one time 20 years ago we didn't advocate for trampling your rights? That should give us a lifetime pass on fulfilling our obligations."

  6. Very disappointing to see the sheriffs come out against this. They pretend that they are champions of liberty. Their Facebook page has a nice sounding blurb about how they support the 2nd amendment, but they are happy to trample on it in this instance. This is just more of the same 'restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens and pretend that it will reduce crime.' Virtually every home in the U.S. has a knife well over 4", you have to be a complete idiot to believe that a criminal intent on doing harm is going to be hindered in any way by this law.

  7. Thanks for your great work in getting these silly laws repealed nationwide.

HB0581 would allow the possession of automatic/switchblade knives and enact knife law preemption which would make the state the sole authority on knife laws, which will create consistency throughout Tennessee. Please contact these Reps NOW!

  8. Almost all of our 'elected representatives', even at the local level, are fully invested in the system as it operates now. They see the power at the top and dream of having a bigger share of that power. None of them want to shake things up. Whether this is due to them actually believing that the status quo is good and proper (after all, that's what they've been taught since kindergarten) or it is just because they are power-lusting SOB's, I don't know. Regardless, it is never going to change until we, the people, demand it.
