  1. I like many of the other comments above have had great success with a atomic G Shock.  The last one I had finally started to go on the blink after 11 or 12 years of daily wear.  It would randomly shut off, stay off for a couple hours then turn back on at random times.  I replaced it with a current version of the same model since I had such good luck with the first one.  It was worn daily for work (commercial construction) and play.

  2. Thanks for everyone's replies so far.

Jonnin, I have heard about the slop in the turret press from some one else who reloads and I was going to stay away because of that.  My thought was to eventually get a square deal B from Dillon for pistol calibers and continue to use the single stage for the rifle calibers.  Maybe the square deal would be too limiting when I was fully ramped up since it does not have the capacity for rifles but right now I shoot some rifle but lots of pistol.  I have time until that happens though.

  3. I am thinking of looking into reloading but have not had any experience with the exception of reading "The ABC's of Reloading".  My thinking as of right now is to get a single stage and once I have the hang of it possibly look to a turret or progressive.  After reading several posts it seems this is the suggested process.  I will be reloading for mostly handgun (9, 40, 45) but also rifle (5.56 & 308).

Is a kit better to start off with or buy it by the piece?  At present I was looking at a RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Master kit.  Any thoughts, good/bad? Any pieces that are not needed in the kit or others that are needed but not included??  http://www.midwayusa.com/product/937051/rcbs-rock-chucker-supreme-master-single-stage-press-kit

I plan on contacting David with Magnum Materials when purchasing components and getting a couple of reloading manuals/tables.

Any other items needed or other suggestions for equipment?  There are so many out there it will make your head spin!!

    Thanks in advance,

  4. DAdams, Thanks for the pictures, it gives a better idea about the sizes and what fits. I think I am going to try to put my hands on one locally, and when I do, have the items to put inside for a "test drive". Hopefully that will clear up any possible fit questions I may yet have.

    Thanks again!

  5. I have been looking at smaller bags recently and was curious about real world sizing of the Sitka. This bag would be used to hold items from the truck to the office (4 block walk). I was hoping to get a change of clothes (jeans, shirt, socks underwear) lunch, and rain gear in it. Of course it would also hold the regular items like extra knife, light, first aid kit, etc. etc.

Is this realistic for this bag?? I seem to hear folks say that the Maxped bags "seem smaller than they thought it would be". If not this bag, then what suggestions for another would you have?? It is primarily a commuter/afternoon hiker type bag.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

  6. After much looking around, I guess as said above, I will probably end up getting one each to start with (semi-auto & bolt) and go from there. The kids will first work with the bolt and start there. The 10/22 will be my "tinkering gun"!!

Thanks for all the suggestions and thoughts!

  7. I am looking for a .22 that I can use as a trainer for centerfire rifles without the expense but also for my kids as they will be coming of age for an introduction to shooting. I was leaning toward a bolt gun but the 10/22 with all the options of aftermarket are intresting/appealing.

  8. I am looking to pick up a cheap practice gun and was wondering about opinions on each. Should I buy the 10/22 and piece it together for better accuracy etc. or stick with a bolt gun and get one ready out of the box. I know the 10/22 can be made into almost anything/purpose you could want with the aftermarket for it out there.

So what are your thoughts, trick out a 10/22 or go for something more ready out of the box??

    Thanks for your thoughts!
