  1. Just a few weeks ago the guide rod in my Walther PPS 9mm split on one end. I began to clean it after I got home from the range and as I went to take it out - zing - it all went to pieces. Like I said, the end had split. Functioned fine at the range. I replaced it with one from BT guide rods. I have only fired about 25 rounds since. Will fire more later before I return it to carry duty.

  2. Nice. I got to handle one today at Sportsman's Warehouse. I liked the weight and feel. Would like to see Ruger offer it in other colors but if not I would still take one. However, the one at Sportsmans did not want to eject the mag. They had to pull it out. It seemed to be hanging up on something. Anyway, as I was leaving I noticed the counter guys fiddling with it. I wonder if they will try to fix it, send it back to Ruger or just sell it? Any problem with your mag ejecting?

  3. I heard they are online sales only now.Anybody from our area know for sure?Someone told me that but don't know if its true.I do know they had 'Restricted Access' signs on the door when I drove by a few weeks ago.

My brother went by about a month ago and was told they are online sales only now.

  4. I have the P99AS in 9mm. The grip frame is perfect for me. I love the mag release. I shot about 500 rounds through it over a 2 day defensive pistol course. Not one problem. I purposely did not clean it over the 2 days. When I stripped it down later I was surprised how clean it looked inside. I used MagTech ammo. That stuff must be very clean.

  5. That is a cool story, and I'm sure your grandkids will love it. Just curious, what would you equate $15 to in today's dollars? I wish I could find a shotgun for $15 in any condition.

43 years ago, $15 would come out to about $100 today according to the inflation calculator I used.

  6. Anyone on here own any guns from USFireArms? If so, I would like to see some pictures (especially of the single actions) and get your opinion. They look like first rate heirloom quality. I really like the 12/22 and the Double Eagle. Price is another issue.

  7. I am not sure who all on this board has a holster from TT gunleather, but i do remember some saying they would like to get one. Well here is mine. I waited about 12 weeks. Not the best photo.

  9. OK... forgive my ignorance here. But what does the snakeskin (or laundrybag) sections accomplish? The reason I ask this is because from a distance they cannot be seen. No?

Exactly, they cannot be seen from a distance, even a short distance. I believe it helps with things like shadowing, light reflection/deflection, etc. I do not exactly know the scientific principle behind it, just know it works. It has nothing to do with, "I want my rifle to look like a snake" because I think I am Snake Plissken ( I just had to get that reference in there :)).

  10. I have to say I have been amazed at what a chameleon this color and pattern is. Sometimes it looks too tan but always seems to blend right in with the woods and shadows. Even when sitting in the corner of the bedroom it seems to absorb light instead of reflecting it.

  11. We all know the many things that Hero Gear has on-site: invaluable knowledge, great selection and prices, gunsmith, occasional fish sandwich. But did you also know that they also have an artist in residence? I give you the work of Picaso Joe. His canvas was my AR.

This was only from about 6 feet away.

  12. quote

David C Baker -[ I see you are in Monteagle? We have a cabin there, and I belong to the hunting club in Tracy City. Have you been to it? ]

You mean the Fiery Gizzard? I have heard of it, but never been.

  13. So you do not have to have the ability to shoot one ragged hole groups in order to take this class? I have always been afraid to take a class like this because I think that everyone is way above me in ability.
