  1. I jumped on the plastic a few years ago when I got back into pistols. I am devolving back to metal. There's nothing wrong with plastic but I just simply don't like the feel of the guns as you shoot them. As weird as it may sound to some they just seem to have a different resonance as they are shot. I know a lot of yall have grown up with them and probably don't even notice it or you think that's how a gun should feel. I'm chilly with that. Personally I like the FEEL of a 1911 when it shoots. I love the little P238 that I traded my Kahr P9 for. The Kahr was a good little gun but it just didn't call to me like the metal 1911 look and feel does. Cocked and locked rocks my world. I still keep a Springer XD next to the bed because it holds 13 +1 of .45 bang but it's like me, it's too fat. Even so it is usually underneath the Kimber Compact Custom or Ultra CDP II when I lays my little head down on my pillow...

  2. G&L made the LGs right. I got the front switch model yesterday. They have a 1911 that calls to me but I don't ever seem to be able to catch Dennis when he's there... Gun Show this weekend here I come.

  3. I put Crimson Trace LGs on my Kimber Compact Custom this weekend and I'm not sure I got what I wanted in the deal. I thought I was getting the model that has the pressure switch on the front strap but this model has buttons on each side if the grip. Anyone have any knowledge of CT model differences? I'm not sure I like the buttons and since I've installed the batteries and grips I don't know if Guns & Leather will let me swap out for what I thought I was getting to begin with...

  4. Thanks for all the feedback yall. I have a Kimber compact custom that has been flawless so I can't buy into the internet rumors that any 1911 under 5" is not reliable. I am getting away from the plastic. Nothing wrong with them. I still have an XD45 compact which I will keep simply because 13 +1 gives me the warm fuzzys. It just resonates funny when shot. That may sound strange but I swear I feel a strange plastic vibration when I shoot it. Has anybody else felt it? I traded my Kahr p9 for a Sig P238 SAS. (sweet) Now I want to give an all metal micro/ultra .45 a test drive.

  5. I have a Springfield Ultra Compact that I carry daily. I also added the Crimson Trace grips on it. I did change the springs out shortly after purchase to add a heavier pin strike. I have never had a misfire, FTF, FTE, etc... since the change. I sighted in my laser to 15 yards and can hit just about anything with it. I'm a huge fan and highly recommend a ultra compact 1911. It's not for everyone though. It took me awhile to get use to the cock and locked carry.

Cocked and locked is no prob. It just takes a lot of practice to remember you've gotta click the safety before you can pull the trigger. I also have a Sig p238 SAS for pocket carry in a Nemisis holster that I really like but it's only .380.

  6. I've been a fan of .45s for years. I have an XD .45 compact but it's too big/fat to tote. I inherited a Colt Model 80 1911 from my father in law awhile back and loved it so much I bought a gently used Kimber Compact Custom that is just a little smaller and easier to carry.

What I need help with is I am thinking of an even smaller/lighter .45 for my summer fashions:). I am considering another Kimber in ultra size possibly with laser grips or a Springer EMP but they seem to be hard to find in .45.

I want night sights and think the laser grips would be a plus as well.

I like to her what yall think...

  7. It's probably 56Fordguys. He is a flashlight whore!

Right now as I sit in my bedroom, I only have 4 lights in view. A mini-mag light, a TLR-1 on the XD45, a low cost multi LED I picked up at the first Hero Gear gun show and a little jewel that recharges in the cigarette lighter with one really bright LED. When I got mine off TopGlock they were like 10 bucks. Best I can find now is 18.99. Check these out. If you travel, they are a must.

Thanks! now I can once again waste hours deciding which new flashlight to order from DX...

  8. Well, gee! I had a libtard Democrat tell me something close to that just last year but it didn't sound any better the first time.

First of all, I don't drive mad I simply shoot the ba$tards (using the imaginary butterfly triggers mounted at the 9 0'clock and 3 o'clock positions on my steering wheel [headlights flip up to expose barrels of 9MM sub guns]) as I scream above the volume of the stereo "Die you scumbag :) motha-lova" (language edited similarly to a B movie on television). :D

Secondly, I talk on the phone while driving because I have a Bluetooth ear piece and figure if you can't do that you shouldn't be allowed to have conversations with passengers in your vehicle while you drive either. I understand the idea of priorities. :screwy:

Driving on, I always pay attention to what is going on around me because you never know when a cute little college co-ed with perky parts--

(*)(*) -- will pop up through a t-top waiving her tee shirt above her head yelling "how do you like these puppies dude?" like one did for me not too long ago. She not only gave a hoot, she gave a pair of hooters, God bless her. What an enjoyable drive!:yum::up:

Regarding the final thought, I don't smoke cigarettes so the only butts I leave on the street are the smoldering remains of all those that are stupid enough to find themselves in the sights of the afore mentioned 9MM sub-guns.

Wow! How quick to anger. My comments were not pointed at you they were simply my observations about drivers in general. About the only thing I have in common with libtard democrats is that I am forced to drive on the same roads as they are and it seems to me that you are mighty quick to take offense at very simple comments.

My phone comments was pointed at those who hold the phone in one hand while putting on make-up or read the paper at 70mph. As for the cigarette butts... I don't give a shout if you smoke that's just one of my personal pet peeves.

I used to drive mad. I used to get irritated at the slightest driving fools. I still cuss the crap out of them but I try to let it go just as quickly.

In closing, easy big fella I meant ill will towards you.

Drive safe and watch out for those perky coeds :D

  9. Don't drive mad. Don't drive while on the phone. Try to pay attention to what is going on around you and understand that there are a LOT of folks on the roads that are in their own worlds and don't give a hoot about anything but themselves. Realize that you cannot control them and keep yourself safe.

One final thought... Cigarette butts are litter too. Don't throw them out of your car or on the ground around you!
