  1. no the classes didnt go over holstering, drawing, etc...mainly basic firearm safety, etc, legal things, and qualifying on the range. I think that is really all that is required in the hcp classes.
  2. i disagree with that statement somewhat. Everyone has a learning curve..lol...Not everyone that carries uncomfortable are idiots lol...i just want to take extra care and reassurance that I can do my best for my safety and the safety of others.
  3. im not really new to guns, but dont have the experience I would like yet around them. Everything had usually been shotguns or rifles. Not loaded and ready handguns. I would eventually like to take an advanced class that I saw offered at one of the local ranges a few days ago.
  4. its not the issue of being comfortable with the gun, but just being new to handguns in general.
  5. I carried with one in the chamber on the way home a few mins ago, but kept it in a compartment. It didnt go off...its just a matter of trust with myself and with the gun itself as well.
  6. I too have an XD...i like the grip safety , and the safety on the trigger...i just gotta get used to trusting my finger from going in the trigger guard area. Has anyone ever heard of a strike pin ever releasing itself on its on from a firearm failure or something like that?
  7. How long did it take you guys to start trusting the guns and yourselves before you started carrying with one chambered and ready? I just cant get my confidence up yet to trust the gun from firing the striker pin, or myself accidentally somehow firing the weapon on accident. I want to get to the point where I am confident to carry chambered / cocked and ready.....how do you guys help overcome this mindset?
  8. yeah When I called in the past, the person answering wasnt the friendliest person in the world.
  9. welcome...lots of us Knoxville folk here.

    M&P Shortage

I know Bills has a 40 m&p because I traded mine in on the XD.
  11. Sucks to hear, as my girlfriend is getting hers once we get back from the beach.
  12. I never had...I thought u always had to check your stuff in...but I guess its just the ones being worked on.
  13. I second this quote...from what I have seen Bill's is a little bit cheaper on their guns and have a pretty good selection. I ended up picking up my XD from them yesterday.
  14. I shot it today along with my gf. we both liked shooting it much better than the m&p.
  15. yes..crossbreed has been contacted before they send it out.
  16. again, like all things in the gun world......most things are opinionated. You have fans / non-fans, etc....its mainly a matter of what works best for the consumer.
  17. i consider the upgrade a few things. caliber a completely brand new gun that I know the status of one that i feel more comfortable holding in my hand lighter a tiny bit smaller in size and one that I feel better with the safety features. Thats the upgrades I consider.
  18. Thanks...I cant wait to shoot it. It probably wasnt the most practical gun for a carry gun (for concealment) but def seems a hair lighter and smaller than the full size m&p I was gonna try.
  19. This morning I randomly went to look at guns, left my fullsize M&P 40 with the store and walked out with a brand new XD 45 compact.
  20. Thanks...I dont think the crossbreed is ever going to arrive.
  21. and im guessing body guard as well while youre driving them...lol
  22. science has proven that drinking (in moderation) can also help live a healthier / longer life . Moderation meaning 1 to 2 drinks max a day (wine / beer)
  23. instead of a wally walk, i carried 2 more places this evening. Inside the local food city and dollar store. I am still very nervous. I guess its because I have been carrying open these couple of times due to having an OWB holster until my crossbreed gets here
