  1. Thanks for the replies, guys.  If they go out 6 weeks prior to expiration I should be getting it any day now.  I have a few days off over spring break, so if I haven't received it by then I will just trek out to the DMV in Oakland (I live in Collierville) and do it in person there.  The closing on the house will be done by then and I can just do everything in one shot.   Thanks again!
  2. Good day everyone!   I usually just lurkand don't post a whole lot.  I have done a lot of searching but haven't found the answer to my question.   I am coming up close to to my expiration date and have not received my renewal application in the mail yet. My current permit expires March 24th of this year.  I know I still have plenty of time, but I am starting to get concerned for several reasons.   My wife and I just purchased our 1st home and close on the 26th of February.  We will still have the apartment through the end of March while we paint and get the house ready before moving all the big things like beds and couches on March 25th.   When we got married in April of 2013 we moved to our "marital home".  I updated my address following the instructions on TN.gov.  It looked like the web address for permits and driver's licensees was the same so i updated my address and moved on.  like an idiot, I didn't order duplicates of my license or permit with the new address on it.   Now that my permit expiration date is coming close I am starting to second guess myself.  If I update for one, does it update for both?  Did I screw up?  I would hate for the application to go to my old address that I left in 2013.    I am off this Friday and am thinking of just going down and filling out the application at the DMV in person.    Should I just wait until we close on the house and THEN go do it in person listing my newest address?   Thoughts?
  3. If anyone thinks they won't use a database to store data, you are kidding yourself. Memphis City Councilman Edmond Ford, Jr. made a proposal to use the scanners so that they could charge Non-Memphis residents who come into the city several times a week. Can't keep track of that without a database of some sort. http://www.wmctv.com...rive-in-memphis 1984 is 30 years late, but it is here.
  4. 21 days seems to be the current timeline. Mine and a bunch of others here lately have come in right at 21 days.
  5. My permit came in the mail yesterday. 19 days from the day I put in the application and completed the fingerprinting. Trying to think if I need anything from walmart..... hmm.....
  6. Did not know that, Fallguy. It took 2 hours, but my application has been submitted. I can't imagine how long it would have taken had I gone to the Summer Ave office in Memphis. I was able to schedule a fingerprinting for 12:20 this afternoon, so that has already been done, as well. Now the waiting game begins.
  7. Thanks for the responses guys. I did notice that it said "any". But we have all encountered those situations where "policy" of the department differed from what the law seems to say. I am here now.... Should be done in, oh, 2 hours.
  8. Morning, all, been lurking since September and this is my first post. I am going to do the application for my permit today. I have some other business to attend to out in Oakland, TN (which is in Fayette County) but I live in Shelby County. Would I be able to my application in there, or does it have to be done at one of the full service driver's license centers in your county of residence?
