Will my gun be over gased if I run a pistol length gas tube with a supressor? I plan on running supressed almost all the time. Also, noveske barrel is actually cheaper than the AAC, I just don't like their silver finish on their barrels. I would like like a carbine length gas system which is why I think I am going to cut down a 16"

It seems that the 12" 300 AAC Blackout barrels I am seeing are pistol length gas systems. Why are they pistol length? Will a 12" with a carbine gas system work? I guess I can always get an adjustable gas block.

Some of you might have seen my other thread. I am building my first SBR and have a few questions. I was going to use a Daniel Defense CHF 12.5" Barrel in 5.56; however, I have decided to do 300 AAC Blackout instead. Since no one makes a 12.5" barrel with a carbine length gas system I am going to get a 16" and have it cut down and threaded. I am going to get the AAC barrel. Where would you send it to get cut down? It doesn't have to be in the Southeast. It is going to take a while to get my Form 1 back so I have plenty of time.

OK, so I found an adjustable gas block that I think will fit under the Larue handguard. I am thinking about the Syrac Ordnance gas block. As far as the LPK, i already have a DPMS kit. However, i thought the kit wasn't all the important. What is a better kit that I should look at?

I got the heavy buffer because I have heard they cut back on recoil. I think that is important to keep the gun on target. Even if I plan on always shooting suppressed, is an adjustable gas block important? I want one that can fit under the rail.

Ok, so I am getting everything lined up for my first AR build. I should receive my trust soon from a forum sponsor. I am going to get everything but the barrel now. Once the form 1 shows up I will get the barrel. Here is my parts list, did I miss anything? Thanks, but I have already purchased everything but the barrel. Now i have to send off my Form 1 and wait.

I am putting together a parts list for my SBR. I am going to buy everything except the barrel now. I just have a few questions though. I am thinking about using a Daniel Defense 12.5" CHF Barrel with a LaRue low profile gas block. I also want to use a LaRue Tactical hand guard. I cannot decide between a 7" and a 9" hand guard. Does anyone have any pictures of 7" and 9" hand guards on a 12.5" barrel?
