  1. I have a hard time just doing what I'm told if I'm not doing anything wrong...I'm not some jerk walking around open carrying trying to bait someone for you tube....I'm not saying I would be belligerent if the situation presented itself but why should I just do what I'm told?? IMHO, that conditioned response of compliance is why our country is in the shape it is now...

  3. I told my wife to politely question LE in the event it happens again as to why she needs to handle the weapon if it is already secured instead of just blindly complying. I understand the mentality of LEOs wanting to be safe, but as OS said the least amount of handling a loaded firearm the better...
  4. The officer didnt handle it..didnt take the round or the mag...how the hell is that "officer safety"...what would have stopped her from reloading when he walked to his car to run her license and shoot him when he came back?

I am usually pretty logical and give people benefit of the doubt, but I fail to see the logic in this situation...

  5. This may have been posted previously but couldn't find the topic. My wife was stopped for speeding today and informed the officer she had a loaded weapon as courtesy when she handed him her license and permit. She said he had her unload the weapon, but didnt ask her to handle the pistol during the stop. I asked her his reasoning and she said he didnt state to her why and because of the circumstances, she didnt ask either. Now, I dont want her to end up on the ground in cuffs but this pisses me off to no end. I would have asked this bastard why I had to unload the pistol before it went any further. I need some advice or be pointed to some statutes on this one as I dont see how an officer has a legal leg in this situation...thanks guys..
  6. The dovetail just gives you a little more flexibility if you decide to change the site again in the future.

i figured that...i am a big dot guy...have them on my glocks...not big on 3 dot sights after moving to them...

  7. i would probably just come out better buying the staked sight and having the smith install price wise instead of having them cut a dovetail in the front of the slide...dunno???

  8. Was just about to recommend the G30...I have that along with a G19..both are nearly identical in size other than the G30 being slightly thicker due to the higher caliber. I've shot 1911s, XD's, and kahrs along with my glocks...that being said I have had zero issues with shooting my glocks whether at the range or in training classes, no misfeeds or ejection issues. I would say that the glock triggers are the best out of box and have a very noticeable reset once you learn to recognize the feel or hear the click...everyone has an opinion, and I am in no way a fanboy but after shooting over 5 manufacturers across 3 different calibers I have found my niche...your mileage may vary, good luck finding your carry weapon

Don't think there such a thing as a 45 Mag.  But, there is alot of room in the barrel rollmark to turn 41 into 45 as seen here in this pic of my Model 58.

The Model 58 conversion to 45 Colt was popular several years back, but now far less so since the Model 58 has become one of the "Grail" guns among S&W aficionados. Unless somebody like Hamilton S. Bowen did the work, the collector value has already been diminished.

You hit the nail on the head.  My dad told me several years before he passed that he had the gun converted for 45LC from 41mag.  The gun didn't come from the factory as it is now, so I'm guessing from some of the comments that any "collectiblity" is dimished aside from the fact that it was my dad's revolver.  I guess I am from the "new school" and desired a more wear resistant finish to preserve the gun under use.  I am not one to just let things sit in the safe and oil occasionally except for my hunting rifle....

  10. I have a Model 58 revolver that belonged to my dad that was passed down to me about 2 years ago.  It has some pitting in the finish and I would like to have gun recoated, but would like to get something more like a melonite type finish instead of chromed or blued.  Does anyone have experience with refinishing revolvers and could point me in the direction of a good place that wouldn't rape me to do the job?  Any help you guys can give is ALWAYS appreciated.  Thanks in advance...
