  1. At the point the guy was breaking in he was damaging property. No risk of life or serious bodily injury occurred until the door or window was breeched by the intruder. No mention of the BG having a gun, so I tend to agree. Not justified in pulling the trigger.

Tough call for the good guy and tough call for the cops too.

I disagree with you, if some one is attempting to break in your home, what do you think they will do? I have never heard of a wanted Felon just breaking a door down or picking a lock and then turning around and leave after he has opened it. At the point when a criminal tries to enter another persons home, they instantly give up their rights as a citizen and should be treated like the criminals that they are, I think the police need to use some friggin common sense, this is retarded

While I agree with you to a point, please don't use that line of thinking of someone attempts to enter your home, you'll find yourself on the wrong side of the law. We can believe and wish what we want, but it doesn't change the way the laws are written. In TN he would have suffered exactly the same fate I believe.

I personally believe that anyone breaking in a home deserves what they get, but I can't act on that feeling should I be in that situation.

For those of you using the argument that the criminal was a felon (playing devil's advocate)...
How did you know he was a felon since some of you are using that as the basis of your justification? That info would only be released after the fact (not that it has any bearing on the outcome of the homeowner being charged or not)

Remember, I think our laws on defending personal property suck
  2. Trivia time: Who wrote the Pledge of Allegance?

Answer: Francis Bellamy, a socialist who was also a Christian minister, yet he didn't put "under God" in the pledge.

Bonus trivia: The pledge was originally said while extending your right arm upward and outward, which became known as the "Bellamy salute", but its use fell out of favor when the Nazi Party adopted the same salute.

The biggest shock to me in that trivia was the use of the words socialist, Christian, and minister used together to describe a person.

The speech from Red was awesome, thanks for sharing. The last few seconds really brought the reality that is the current state of this nation to light
  3. Jest wondering I have seen so many people buy a glock and with in a year it's for sale , I see more glocks for sale than any other pistol ? Wonder why that is.

Funny, but from my experience it's just the opposite, I see more or every other manufacturer. But, it could be like mentioned above, there are just so dang many of them out there
  4. I've only had one deal with them, but I knew what I was getting into up front. I wanted a hi-point 9mm carbine about 4 months ago. They were the only ones still getting shipments in and selling them at pre-craze prices. I ordered and paid, then apparently they started getting in fewer and fewer (no surprise, no one else could get them at all). But, I knew there would be a wait, and they had a running list. They would call every couple weeks or so and keep me updated, not a huge deal. If I had a choice, I would have dealt with one of my LGS's simply because I don't like doing business over the phone. All in all I feel like they're good people who may try to do too much by taking in too many orders and get over their heads.
  5. Seriously? I know magpuls are hard to get right now but we (at my job) have more lancer, Troy, and c-product mags than we know what to do with. I would have never imagined promags would be in demand especially since gun legislation has failed thus far.

I don't think they're "in demand" at the moment, maybe during the buying frenzy just like basically any magazine over 10 rounds (i.e. the date this thread was started).
  6. Yea if I didn't drive a 12mpg truck I'd be all for the summer town range..may give the Montgomery county range a go thanks for th input fellas

Completely understand. If you do decide to try it out let me know, I'd like to get down there myself
  7. Someone gave me a couple PMAG knock-offs made my ProMag. So far, they've worked just as well as my PMAGs.

I have 2 of the 42 rounders, work just fine for me. I did do some minor filing to change the contour of the valleys at the top rear of the mag. Sorry I know that's a bad description, but if you hold it beside a pmag you'll see what I mean
  8. I'll admit, I'm addicted. I met Phil back years ago when all anyone knew him by was "Duck Commander", back when they still had the actual hunting show. I guess if I could describe the feeling that I got while talking to him for a couple of minutes I would say "still waters run deep". Don't let their silliness throw you, they're all very intelligent (Si excluded lol) and extremely rooted in their faith in God. I have a ton of respect for not only their attitudes and as outdoorsmen, but for their willingness to speak and spread the word of God. I maintain that if the world had more Duck Dynasty and less MTV we'd be just a little better off.

  9. In a vacuum. When a thug gets shot, somebody, somewhere, always says, "he was a good boy". Based on all we have seen about Trayvon, outside of Crump's marketing campaign, is that he was an aspiring thug. It has some significance in the case because of all the original misleading media crap.

Sure, he could have been buying iced tea (actually, it wasn't) and skittles for a nice evening at home. Let's don't ignore the fact that an evening with the Cleavers didn't quite fit his character.

I also said I donated to the Trayvon fund, because Zman isn't getting a dime of my money.

    Dave S

I understand you may not think Zimmerman was justified in his shooting and why you wouldn't give him money, but why in hell fire would you send funds to help further the circus antics? I'm confused I guess.
  10. I think it is to prevent overgassing more so than short stroking. Overgassing and short stroking can look similar.

The pigtail gives the gasses in the barrel time to drop before the gas hits the BCG. This extra time lets the pressures inside the barrel drop to "normal" levels before the BCG unlocks. If not then the pressures inside the abrrel will be higher than "normal" and those pressures exert more force on the case and the bolt. Those extra pressures inside the barrel as the BCG unlocks cause the BCG to accelerate at a faster rate causing the gun to have malfunctions related to overgassing.

By allowing the gasses in the barrel to reduce it reduces the chance of overgassing. Also a properly gassed gun runs cleaner, more reliably and with less felt recoil.

Anyone who has shot my 5 pound AR that is properly gassed will attest to how differently a properly gassed gun uns compared to a overgassed gun. And there has been a shift in the industry to overgas guns for "reliability".

    Very good explanation.

  11. Do you have a foam rubber cover over your buffer tube?

no i dont. i had it wrapped in paracord , but the charging handle was snagging it. ill probably buy a foam cover so i can get a more comfortable cheek weld on it.

Go with exile machine's rubber cover. It's what I run and I love it

  12. kind of off topic, but didnt want to start a new thread. my ar pistol is 9mm so its kinda irrelevant on what you guys are talking about....but

my only gripe with my ar pistol is aiming the thing. i started off with a laser mounted on the quad rail and now ive got some flip up sights. i can do a cheek weld on the buffer tube, but its kinda funky. thinking about going the SBR route because of this. what does everyone else use for sights?
