When I was a kid we had a trail going straight through the woods, my dad got a detector and we found a railroad plate (not sure what it's called, it holds the rail to the tie) ... It wasn't until I got older and looked at some old maps that I realized there was a railroad that ran right through the yard in the 1920 that only ran about 10 years before it was abandoned.

Ain't history fun? 🙂 I love stuff like that!!!

  2. I used to some - my dad was big into it when I was a kid, and I'd go with my older brother 'coin shooting' at the local playgrounds and school grounds. 🙂 Was fun stuff!

I live on farm land, and there might be stuff there, but don't like the idea of digging up the yard - LOL - no fields in my possession. 🙂

    TCA Code 39-16-403 says:

    <snip>

The Department of Safety is jumping on taking $3million of the public's money to start a program to "train" anyone who wishes in gun safety, a program they will proctor and control, it will be a new curriculum, and new program for them to administer for their friends...

There is no statutory obligation, and the People have not delegated any power, for them to insert themselves into lobbying against a return to the Rights enumerated originally.   Per my view, they know they are working against a Right we already have, and they do not want us to have, and are criminals by doing so.  They take on no responsibility to provide any safety or security to the individual, and in fact are covered from doing so by Qualified Immunity.

Thank you for this info! I am seeking to better educate myself and those around me, and be better able to communicate with my elected representatives, both in Nashville and in Washington...

Thx for the extra info on their 'obvious intentions' and standings. I could tell just in the videos that they seemed to take this as a direct assault on their organizations. <sigh>

There is an amendment forthcoming, hopefully, that corrects some of the unintended results currently in the legislation.  I was not privy to the latest iteration and its consequences.  suffice it to say the Department of Safety is not a fan of this intent.  They like being in charge of our lives.  They are immune from responsibility of providing safety to or for us, but they want to control our liberty!

    Will be watching closely...

And yeah - I do NOT like the way they (dept of safety, TBI) have been responding to this. <sigh> They seem to think that stopping gun BANS will mean the bad guys start using guns...

I know - I know - same old argument, but really stings when 'they' witness...

in my opinion, it is legal gobbledygook, intended to confuse the issue and let certain classes of People bear arms while denying it to those who pay the bills.

I watched the 3/23 and 3/29 videos, and I'm glad the rep's on the sub-committee brought out the fact that this is actually BAD form, for a law. I don't think "Legal" cared much for having to 'defend' it either...

If you find a decent deal on whatever reloading equipment you're considering, don't pass it up.  Component availability always improves eventually, and you can pick up equipment and the rest as it comes available.  Just don't have a short term memory, and stock up when you can ...

    Thanks for the tip!

As I get older it is, again, something I wouldn't mind checking into as a hobby... Not that I need another one, LOL, but if it's something I can do with my son! You know how family time is... 🙂

Good time to buy a reloading press as well. I see people dumping them for multiple reasons. MAYBE I / we will get another shot at stacking components deep.

One of my sons has mentioned doing some loading... I figure powder and primers are so hard to find and expensive when you do that it's not worth it other than as a hobby...

I didnt realize how low I was on 45. What is the best place that wont require an arm and a leg for ammo? Same thing for 9mm too. Its been a long time and I dont know what "normal" prices are anymore.

I don't actively search for 45, so I can't help you there, but I'm always on the lookout for 9mm, since we have several...

Usually, Academy, if you have a credit card, beats most other places... You get free shipping and you save 5% on the order. I do that and just pay it in full every month, so I'm actually saving the money. LOL

One of the local stores has 9mm for 19.95 - save a little by buying 1000 rounds at a time. If you're low, that's not a bad price at all, but that's in Dyersburg...

What are you looking to pay?

Seems like most KELTEC Models are almost non-obtainium.  They have some really cool designs, but it seems like they make a small number and then move on to another project.

I've had a couple of KELTEC pistols and have had mixed results. I love their little P32. Absolutely hated the PF9 though. Looked like a great idea, but they seem to have cut a lot of corners with.  The one I had, had such violent recoil, that after the first couple of magazines, the mag release started release the mag after a couple of shots.  I tried repositioning my grip, thinking that was what was happening, but nothing worked.  Took it home and the steel magazine had shaved off the plastic magazine release, KELTEC shipped me another plastic magazine release.  I replaced the old one with the new one and traded the pistol off.

Designs - oh yeah! No doubt there!

We had a period of years where my wife would get a KelTec every year around her birthday. 🙂 Started out with a 9mm (P17 maybe? Been several years ago...) The next year she got a P32 for a 'boot gun' or backup. Then a year or two later they came out with the P3AT, so... yep - she had to have it too! LOL

She got her .40 Shield and gave me the 9 for a carry. When I got my .40 (since I loved the way hers shot) she gave the 9 to our oldest son. She eventually found a Ruger LCP II in .380 and gave the KelTec to our OTHER son. 🙂

I was THIS close to buying a PMR a few months ago, but wanted to shoot one first. A guy at church has one but hasn't shot it much, so I brought the ammo and he brought the gun and we shot some after church one night. I liked it - a lot - but not enough to spend $400 on... Didn't think I'd get that much fun out of it. 🙂

Oh - she and I each have a SUB-2000 9mm that we VERY much enjoy. 🙂

It is hard to be in front of the camera and know you have to get all the information presented in 4 minutes, did the best I could, bobbled a couple of times, but got it all read into the record

Well done! And I was just hearing your voice this morning, catching up on the TFA podcast. Nice to put a face with the voice I've been hearing. 🙂

And I'm new to this forum, but not new to TFA - thank you for what you do!

  11. I'm in Dyersburg - I don't normally sell my guns, but I have a Rough Rider I'm NOT happy with - the front site needs straightening, so I've thought of getting rid of it... Black pearl grips, black-ish finish - has had about 50 rounds through it...

That being said, they are not expensive, so you can probably find one in a store for the same money, plus tax and TICS, of course...
