  1. Un-manageable would be how I could describe shooting that weapon. Not a good choice for a lady IMO. Difficult to chamber a round and the recoil is nasty (for a lady). I put the Kel Tec back into the safe and got my wife a Sig P238.

    Ditto

I got rid of my LCP and got my wife the P238 HD and she likes it.

  2. My wife can no long pull the trigger on her old charter arms 38 sp or my Ruger LCR due to her arthritic hands. She now uses the Sig P238 HD. It has the easiest slide to rack of any semi auto I have ever handled and light trigger. It is a little over $500 put isn't her life worth it?

I would not get her an airweight revolver or 357 mag due to the recoil. I assume if she lacks hand strength the recoil is an issue as well.

  3. Best CCW IMHO! I carry the PPS in 40 and its accurate and reliable. The 40 has stout recoil so I wish I had bought the 9mm instead but I am pretty good at follow up shots at 7 to 10 yards. I got the 40 because that is what I reload and like to practice.

There are more holster options now than ever which was a problem when I purchased it a few years ago.

  4. I have the .40, its very nice.

+s: small size, comfortable grip that is configurable, tame recoil for it size (its still stout in a 40), 100% reliable.

-s: too fat, fishook safetys, a little boxy, magazine pinky rest does not stay closed on mine.

All in all a B+, if it had been a bit thinner and less snagtastic it would get the A+.

My thoughts exactly. I wound up buying the full size for a better grip. I wish they would redesign the mag safety because it is very sharp.

  5. I have the Sig P238 HD that my wife took over for her purse carry so I had to go out and get the LCP for my pocket carry. The P238 was as reliable as the LCP but much less recoil and a little heavy for pants pocket carry. I hated the LCP for long trigger pull and was much less accurate. I now have an M&P 340 J frame that I pocket carry.

  6. You have experience running 20+ mph? I'd like to see that.

I've been on a bicycle doing 25 and have a dog come up beside me and hang for a while. I would image it could top out over 30 if it wanted too.

If you can get your outrunning a dog on video I would like to see it.

I do not think that I run 20 mph but I have not been bitten yet. I just ignore them and they bark, look aggressive then just loose interest just like your experience on a bicycle.

  7. Yeah, you're not diffusing a situation if you just shot someone's dog. Wait for the police. If the guy is acting in a threatening manner attempt to remove yourself from the situation, however, I would assume that since you just displayed your willingness to use a firearm the owner probably isn't going to do anything stupid. Besides, the police would probably be there pretty quick after a firearm being discharged.

I agree that the owner will not attack you physically just after you shot his dog in self defense but there are other possibilities to consider.

    1) First thing I would I do while jogging and encounter a charging dog would be to hit the high gear and out run it. I have personal experience since I jog in my neighborhood regularly and so many let their dogs out in the morning. If you get a big dog then kick the crap out of it in the ribs before he gets too close but if he bites you then you are in fear of serious injury.

2)In my neck of the woods an irate dog owner knowing you just shot his dog could come at you with his shotgun then it's not going to end well.

    3) I DON'T carry while jogging.

  8. Im not selling it. That's out of the question. I'll take it to my mom and dad's in spring hill before I do that and just have dad lock it up in his safe until i can get moved. but taking it to mom and dad's (35 miles away) is a last resort. I didn't get a permit and the gun to have it sit in a safe all the time, and I didn't get a permit to "NOT" carry.

Sounds like a good option. I have a HCP and my gun mostly sits in a safe. I can't carry at work or on its property. When I was in college my firearms were with my parents.

  9. 1) I do not throw stones.

    2) How many of you keep a loaded gun in the car, go to a bar and have only 2 beers, watch a football game with friends and then drive home without first unloading your gun and locking it up in your trunk.

    3) How many of you have ever disagreed with the testimony of a cop before a Judge?

    4) How many of you trust the accuracy of a field sobriety test?

I am not saying that the alleged activity was acceptable but lets give him his day in court. In the meantime the "guns in bars" law is still a good law for TN.

  10. I work daily in a hospital and all hospitals I know of are posted but not offen meeting the legal requirements because they are old signs. That being said I would not point out their error. In talking to the guards the intent is for LEO's and Prison Guards to carry on official duty and not for HCP's. I do want to have to pay legal fees or lose my job if discovered carrying a firearm in the hospital.

  11. I have the xd 40 and love mine. I got into reloading and it makes a big difference in how often I go to the range. I have upgraded my sights to TFO, they are very bright!

  12. I like my Beretta bobcat and carry it as a back up gun, using stingers, in a coat pocket or ankle holster. It is easy to unload many rounds center mass and 100% reliable untill after about 50 rounds. Then it is a PIA to pry out a round in the chamber because of a spent case stuck in the chamber due to a dirty gun. It is a fun range gun for plinking. I will not sell it.

  13. I just placed an order. I figured someone has to be the Guinea Pig and it might as well be me. I'll update with a review when I receive it and will try to post a follow up review after it gets some usage.

I have the AHolster for th LCR and it is nice and tight against my body with just a loose shirt. I was worried that a kydex holster OWB would be too thick to conceal but the contour takes care of it. I wish he made the holster for my Walther PPS which I carry IWB on occasion. I love my AHolster!

  14. look at the sig forum at the thread on customer service. i was thinking of getting a p238, but after reading the thread i am rethinking the sale.

My experience with Sig customer service has been exceptional! They sent my firearm back with a store coupon and a stronger recoil spring. The extra cost of a sig compared to other brands is well worth it and quality trumps price every time.
