  1. I always loved growing up listening to the scanner with my grandparents and parents.....cant do that much anymore now.

Could anybody give me some of the best channels i can LISTEN to over in West Nashville/Pegram area. I just love to listen in.

I was reading some last night and got the weather stations programmed, just didn't know if anybody could tell me what some of the repeater stations are or if any of the emergency frequencies that are not trunked in my area? I live in Pegram and work in Franklin.

I have just been putting the unit on scan and stopping and saving anything i come across as well.

    Thank you in advance!

But if you put your gun case inside your luggage I would use TSA locks on the luggage.  Private lock on gun case.  I also put a label on the gun case with cell number should they need me to open it.

    So what im gathering.......

Put TSA lock on luggage.....bc i will be putting hard shell case inside luggage, and put personal lock on gun case and label with cell # (thats a really good idea).

And I'm good to go on 1 unopened box of 45acp......?

  3. I will be flying in the next few weeks and have a few questions.

I will be using a hard style pelican case. I will be taking along my 1911 and spare mag.

Can I put a full unopened box of ammo in this checked pelican case?

Do I need to buy the "TSA" approved locks?

Can I put my pocket knife in this locked Pelican case with my Firearm?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated......haha  I usually just drive to where I'm going.

  4. You've lost me.  A 10 round mag has a longer tube and a big baseplate, which is the exposed black part sticking out of the magwell.  It wraps around the portion of the magazine that holds the spring.
Are you wondering if there is something like a conversion kit for a standard 1911 mag?  I'm not aware of anything like that either.
I found a good video that shows the CMC mag.

Video helped a little. I just don't want the mag being exposed like this in my Kimber.a2af8cc29853f52a26791a91d5282422.jpg

  5. The Chip McCormick mags have the black covering on the exposed part.

If you're asking if there is a flush fit 10 round 45 Auto mag, the answer is no.

From looking at the picture on the website it looks as if the base plate doesn't cover up the extension part? It's just a big baseplate?

  6. Picked up my first 1911 for Christmas from my wife! It holds 8rd magazines. I would like to run/have and extra mag that is a 10rd but I don't want the stainless sticking out. Is the picture below a 10rd mag with a black cover/baseplate or a 1911 mag extension? I'll attach pictures of my Kimber as well as the Kimber with the magazine extension I am talking about.

  7. The wife and I are wanting to find a good cabin to rent for the weekend. Anywhere within 2-3 hrs drive of Nashville. We want a secluded cabin that's not right next to others. We don't have to be able to get into the city and go shopping. We would rather be able to go hiking or be out of all the commotion. Any suggestions? Seems like everything I find are right next to each other.

  8. Did he change anything? It doesn't just do that. One it shouldn't be sparking, that is a loose connection as stated earlier. And two, if it had to jump to another circuit to get a ground, that is a problem. The main panel should have a good and solid ground , if not it needs one (ground rod or otherwise) added to it. It being three prong simply means the ground and neutral is sharing a wire going to the main panel and is split off from there, whereas the 4 prong has a dedicated ground and neutral from the outlet to the panel.

He re wired a bunch on stuff on the panel. He tried to explain the neutral wires and ground wires but I didn't completely comprehend what he was talking about. He just said that the reason for the problems were the way the dryer and stove were wired up and they were trying to make a ground through the entire condo and then ending up at the hot water heater. When he was messing with some of the wires on top of the hot water heater some of the lights were flickering. He made our place "safe" for now. He said there was a brand new box on the outside of the building but he couldn't get into it and said that the problem was probably inside the box.

  9. The dryer was searching for a ground and kept running until it found one. He said it's just bc of the older wiring in the building. Newer stuff is not wired like this. We have a 3 prong outlet and 4 prongs are required for anything newer.

  10. It basically clarifies what is already the law. If you're in the business of selling guns you get a license.

For example, those guys you see at every single gun show buying and selling guns who always have tables in the same spot. They're going to have to get a license as they are obviously "in the business".

ADHD here as well. If I was to sell you a gun....do we have to go to the gun store and get a background check and transfer the weapon?

  11. The 64 is a really good GPS receiver. I've had a 60, 62, and now 64. I had topo on the 62 but have not done it yet on the 64. Right now I have city navigator and US inland rivers and lakes. Don't do down load. By the cd. Reason being with a cd you can put it on your pc and use it on the 66? when it comes out, create routes on the pc and transfer it to the GPSr. That's the way I have with my river maps and have used it on all three. On the topo I bought by download, it's straight to GPSr and your done as far as using it again. I asked Garmin about this and they verified this. On city navigator you may have to buy a unlock to do another GPSR or you may get two unlocks with it.

I just looked at topo maps and the topo 100k sure looks nice. That's something new. That's what I'll get soon. Looks like you can only get that with on a card but you should be able to put that on your pc. Hope this helps a little.

Where did you get the rivers download? I tried to download some of the free maps today from the link I posted. I could not figure out how to install them at all?

  12. Just got a Garmin gps64s for Xmass. Was planning on using mine for hiking and tracking the distances we hike in our parks in the SE. Seems like there are a ton of maps I can download for my unit. Has anybody ever messed with downloading any of these maps and using them. New to the whole handheld gps unit game.

Here's a link I found with some maps.

  13. If you are up for an adventure, try driving through the abandoned train tunnel at Nemo Bridge near Wartburg, TN. The tracks are removed, so no chance of meeting a train, but you could meet another driver. I usually honk a few times before entering, since the tunnel is curved and you can't see all the way through. The "road" leading up to the tunnel is only a road in the sense that at one time it may have had some gravel laid down, and there are no trees in the path where you drive. Calling it a giant collection of potholes might be more fitting. I've seen people drive a street car down there, but I would recommend a truck with good clearance. You'll want the clearance in the tunnel anyway since there are huge dips that fill up with water. In a 4WD truck you'll be fine, but a car won't make it if it has rained recently.

Catoosa Road that leads up to the coordinates below is well paved and very nice. While you are in the area, cross the bridge over to Rock Creek campground and hike up the Cumberland trail. One of my all-time favorite backpacking spots is up that trail to the Alley Ford campsite. At a leisurely pace it takes about 1.5 hours to hike it in, and 1.5 back out.

Here is the location of the start of the dirt road:

Here is a video (not mine) of someone driving thru the tunnel:

That's what I'm talking about! That looks badass! Keep the ideas coming guys!! Definitely hitting this up with the buddies very soon!

I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for good places around here? I would really like to find some old abandoned buildings/houses in the woods to go explore.

I found these on Instagram that are supposedly around Nashville. Does anybody know where these are?

  16. Looking for good recommendations. I want a site that I can drive my truck to, set up a tent and not be right next to somebody else that is camping. Also need stuff to be able to do like fish and hike during the day. Want somewhere I can build a fire to cook on as well.
