Just scout your shooting lanes because I know the fmj rounds will go though a 14"hickory tree at 50+yards.
I was firing mine at a target on a hickory tree and wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it myself, blasted right thru the tree. -
I bought one of these, the thing is about indestructible. There is a you tube video of a guy shooting it with a 22LR and it still works. I do work occasionally in other countries that doesn't always have the most reliable power, it works great in that scenario.
I think I bought it off Amazon.

I'm looking into building me an AR and I'm kind of a noobie when it comes to them. What kind of lower should I be looking for? Also, I think the 5.56 will fire the 223 round, but not vice versa, is that right? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Something else to keep in mind, safety related. A 22LR supposedly can travel over a mile in distance. A friend of mine's son was standing in his own yard and got hit by a stray 22 in his foot. Luckily it didn't do much damage, but it traveled through his foot and out the bottom into his shoe. Just something to keep in mind if you are shooting a 22LR up in a tree.

I couldn't resist posting a picture of this bruiser I killed a couple weeks ago. Just now figuring out how to post pics. 11 Pointer, biggest I've ever seen, especially for an East Tennessee dear. Think I'll quit and go out on top cause I'll never top this one!

My Kelly kettle came yesterday and I experimented with it last night. Very easy to use. It boils water very quickly, about 5-6 minutes using just a little bit of dried grass and about 10-12 small twigs. I bought the whole kit, I even cooked an egg on it! I am planning on taking it to Haiti with me in a couple weeks as we will be going up in the mountains, and well, you never know. I bought the small stainless version, but I kind of wish I bought the next size up, the small one will only boil about two coffee cups of water. You also get a little bit of ashes in the water, but not a big deal. If you were getting this for camping, or hiking for one person, the small is fine, but if you are getting it for "just in case", I'd get the biggest that you had room to store it.

Well, the Kelly kettle is on its way to me. I ordered the small stainless version. I will let you know how I like it when I get it.

The only difference I've been able to tell between chiggers and the small seed ticks are exactly what you said. You usually have to pull the ticks off, chiggers, you don't. Also, its an urban legend to put nail polish on chigger bites. They don't burrow inside you, once you itch or take a shower, the chiggers are gone, but the damage has already been done.

I hunt a lot with my sons, so there isn't a lot of room up there. I keep my backpack on the shelf, works great.

I just looked at the ad, that's the same one I bought last year from academy. I haven't had any problems with it. I have two buddy stands up on my property. Believe it or not, the little shelf thing comes in handy.

Thinking the were individually sealed and packed got them out and "surprise", had to use them all at one time. Each bucket got about 18 O2 absorbers.
Do you have a food saver? If so, you can vacuum seal the unused ones and use them later.

I have used the oven canning method recently. It really is a simple way of storing. I can't account for how long it last because I just did a couple weeks ago. The thing I like about it is that driving up the temperature to 200 degrees, you are basically sterilizing it. I've done rice, beans, flour, and pasta this way. One trick I learned was after you take the jars out of the oven and put the lids on, cover the jars with a towel so they cool more slowly. I think, this is just my theory, but the first batch I did, I think the air conditioning blowing in the kitchen caused condensation on the inside of the jar. This was unacceptable to me, so I redid those jars. Like I said, I don't know how long it will last, but that's now my preferred method for dry storage because of the germ killing. Do a Google search, there are good lessons out there for it.
Finally got my creek pump set up and running :0)
