  1. I was at my son's baseball practice today (freezing my tail off by. the way!) We were at a small private school field, so my gun was locked in the car. A large dog came running up out of the woods toward the field, turns out it was friendly, but that got me to thinking, what if it hadn't been friendly? I was only 50 ft from the truck, but you know the whole school thing. My first instinct would be to grab a baseball bat, but do you have the gun option? what's the right call if it had come after one of the kids?

  2. I bought a Smith and Wesson 22a, I think it is. I hate it! It is the most ammo sensitive thing I've ever seen. You can't fire more than one magazine before you will start to have FTF's without cleaning the thing. I wish I would've listened to my buddies and bought a Ruger.

  3. Well, I stopped by my local gun store to pick up some ammo this afternoon and he corrected my grip. I was taught the cup and saucer grip in my HCP course, and he showed me a new grip, he said nobody uses the cup and saucer any more. I can't wait to get out this weekend and try out my new grip!

  4. I'm pretty anal about cleaning my guns, so I don't think that's it, and I am left handed and left eye dominant. I know some shoot with both eyes open, but my years of deer hunting just doesn't allow me to do that.

My patterns are pretty tight, all within about a 4-6 inch circle or so.

  5. If you can shove a .40 round into a 9mm chamber then you have magical powers.

I didn't try putting a 40 into the 9 chamber, only in the magazine, I'm guessing the 40 won't fit? Would anything happen if the 40 came up thru the magazine other than Failing to feed?

BTW, does FTF mean fail to fire or fail to feed?

  6. I was out at my redneck shooting range this afternoon as stated in another post. I was shooting both my xd9 and xd40 and a question came up in my mind. What would happen if I accidently mixed ammo? I know what some will say, tell me to try it and post the results, but I have not intentions on ever finding out. I did found out that the 9mm won't fit in the 40 magazine, it pops back out, BUT the 40 will feed into the 9 mag, which in my thinking, firing a 40 out of a 9 would be worse than firing a 9 out of a 40. Anyone know what would happen? Thanks

  7. I went out to my "redneck shooting range" today, aka, my back yard, and shot both my xd9 service and my xd40sc. I got two questions:

1: I had my first FTF in the xd9, I've had it for several months and have probably put around 500-750 rounds thru her without any FTFire until today. I'm using the same ammo that I usually use, Winchester target. I also had a FTFire in my xd40, two actually. I've only put about 100 rounds thru her as of today, just got it a couple weeks ago. It's pretty cold out today, could that have something to do with it?

2: My next question is on accuracy. I am left handed, and from about 10 yds, I am consistantly hitting high and right with both guns pretty much. That tells me it's probably me, any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

  8. Unless you ran across one used, both are available only from the maker.

    Yeah, those are wait times.

David Bullard was only a week or so this time last year. People have really turned on to his stuff since; I should get a commission.

David has my money because of you, you might be on to something about the commission. I'm about four weeks in on my order, still no holster, according to his website, he is a full 8 weeks now, but every day I keep hoping it will be on the porch when I get home from work!

I went with the XD40SC, I really like it so far.

    1. You can now secure your gun and enter the location where you are not legally allowed to carry a gun (retrieve your gun to start carrying your gun again).

This still wouldn't work for me, we aren't allowed to bring guns on site where I work, I don't think it matters if they are locked up or not.

  9. Staying with today's news, how many of you remember this incident in the cherokee national forest back in 2006?

I wonder what this little girl's parents take is on guns in parks? My family does alot of hiking at various parks, and I will rest a little easier and enjoy my day a little more knowing if something like this happens to my family that I have the ability to stop it.

  10. Here's my EDC. It has changed over the years, but these items have remained consistent.

    Space Pen

    Lighter

    Flashlight - Maratac AAA

    Spyderco Paramilitary - plain edge

4-5 o'clock - Walther PPS in a DM Bullard Tuckable

    Right Rear Pocket - iPhone

    Left Rear Pocket - Wallet

    Marathon GSAR Watch

I've been waiting about 4 weeks now for my DM Bullard Dual Carry holster. Are you still happy with yours? How long has it lasted for ya?

  11. Thats a bummer,, when I buy something I want it now,, I guess I'm lucky. I didn't start buying guns till I moved to Tn. so I never had to wait around to get my guns.:tough:

A guy I work with is a gun dealer, so he can save me about 100 bucks compared to the stores, well worth a few agonizing days I guess!

  12. I also spend a lot of time in the woods and I've known 2 people who have been bitten by venimious snakes. Recently I posted a question about 9mm snake shot shells. Most folks said they should cycle my Glocks just fine. I plan to test some soon. Instead of buying a "snake gun", I'd rather carry a familiar gun with 1 or 2 rounds of snake shot on top of the mag. I'd vote for you to get a subcompact version of your carry gun. You'll probably get much more use out of it.

I was reading about rat shot, in the 22lr, apparently it won't cycle semi autos. I'd be awfully worried about putting it in my 9mm.

  13. Hello, just looking for advice on my next purchase. I currently have a XD9, service model that I absolutely love. I recently got my permit, and was thinking about buying a smaller carry gun, I really like the xd40 subcompact. But at the same time, I would like to also pick up a judge, probably the public defender. It will soon be turkey hunting season, and I would like to have me a good "snake gun". I can't afford both guns, so what would you guys do? Thanks
