  1. I have found a shop that actually has two in stock, just trying to come to terms on the price. They are almost non existent. A shop in Cookville had a Browning A-Bolt that sat on the shelf for almost two years before they marked it down $200 to move it. Thanks, for all the leads via pm also.
  2. Has anyone seen any 25-06 bolt action rifles at any mid-TN gun shops? A couple of local (Wilson Co.) gun shops can order one but I was hoping to find one in stock in the next few days. I want it for my son who is in the Air Force and is in for Thanksgiving and will be here for a few more days but will not be here for Christmas. If anyone knows of one I would appreciate the lead.

  3. I'm no huge Kimber fan, only I believe they can be a bit over priced (all the advertising is expensive). That being said, I have a Kimber Custom II that is amazingly accurate and reliable,  for that price it would make a very fine gun.

  4. The Tec-9 is probably the only gun I ever regret buying. It was the most unreliable firearm of any type I've ever owned. It would not fire more than three rounds without some sort of jam. As a similar gun I have heard decent reviews of the Master Piece Arms firearms. And if you have any issues, they are still in business to take care of them.

  5. I have a Les Baer "Thunder Ranch Special" with the Baer coat. It is a great shooting pistol. My next premium 1911 will be another Leas Baer in 38 Super, not sure of the model yet.

  6. I have found myself swearing off gun shops that have been gouging their customers(me). Unfortunately, my favorite shop and every other local shop I've been in are guilty of it. Now I must keep venturing further out or suck it up and pay the prices. I've seen the gouging first hand, repricing old stock to new pricing. I do understand as new stock from distributors go up your prices have to go up, but repricing old stock riles me a bit.

  7. I was there yesterday....nothing. I assume its similar to Walmart though. Just have to be in the store after a shipment

That was how I found mine a couple of weeks ago. I walked by the sporting goods counter at Wal-Mart and they had one in the case, said they had it for about two hours. I had to break out the credit card for it, did not know when or if I'd see another one for the right price $447.

  8. Here is their response to my cancellation request:

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us.

We understand that this is a sensitive topic, and that some of our customers may not agree with our choice to pause the promotion of firearm-related deals. Groupon has always aimed to offer a diverse range of products and services to meet the various tastes and interests of our subscribers. However, at this time, enough customers and merchants have voiced their opinions that we believe a hiatus is warranted.

Please note that we have never sold guns, and this hiatus only applies to firearm-related deals including shooting ranges, clay pigeon shooting, and concealed weapons training classes. We have not made a final determination regarding this category -- we are simply taking a break and may reevaluate in the future.

Per your request, I've unsubscribed this email address and deleted your account. You will stop receiving Groupon promotional emails within 48 hours.

We genuinely appreciate your opinion and the feedback you've given us. I'll be sure to share your comments with the appropriate people.

    Regards,

  9. How many of us over the last couple of years have took gold in to sell for what is essentially inflated prices. As has been stated, free market economies dictate such price swings, the market will swing one way or another and will usually settle somewhere in the middle. Back to the gold reference, most would think you crazy to sell you old gold chain from high school for close to what you paid for it in 1981, I would guess that old chain is worth several times what was paid for it then. That is not gouging, its not immoral. Because some of us did not prepare for what was inevitable and others are profiting from it is not the profiteers problem or fault it is our for not being prepared.

  10. I ordered 3 of the KCI Glock 19 mags that were "In stock" on Dec.23. They charged my credit card  immediately. My status on their web site has not changed since then "PENDING". Not sure if I should just wait it out or cancel the order.

    Mine shipped yesterday.

  11. Optimum ejection is to the 3-5 oclock position.  if it is going foward the gun is likely slightly overgassed. Basically it is a matter of which point in the cycle the rifle is ejecting.  If the rounds are going foward then it is ejecting while the BCG is returning foward.   I'd wait till your new carrier comes in and see if it is still the same.  If your new carrier is heavier it may go back to being around the 3 oclock position.  As long as it's reliable you dont really have to change anything, but if it bothers you you can always change out the buffer to a heavier buffer, this will slow the BCG down and likely get ejection back ino the optimal zone.    Also what ammo your shooting can alter the ejection pattern higher pressure rounds will result in a faster moving BCG and vice versa.

That all makes sense, seems clear when it is pointed out.

I don't think it's written in stone, but this is often touted as conditions for different ejection patterns, assuming chamber isn't sticky, and there's nothing wrong with ejector/extractor and whatnot.

edit: echoes what C.A. just said, we were both typing at same time.

That is a very good diagram, never seen that one before. Very helpful. Thanks guys.

  12. I have a complete Spikes AR15 that functions 100% and ejects the brass neatly about 5-6 ft. to my right rear. I just finished building a new AR yesterday with several different mfg. parts. An Aero Precision upper, DEZ barrel, polymer New Frontier Armory lower. Only part missing is a BCG which is back-ordered until next week, hopefully. So, I wanted to shoot my newly assembled AR and swapped over my Spkies BCG and CH into my new rifle. Rifle shot great, functioned 100% only odd thing is it ejected the brass 5-6 ft. to my right front. Not really an issue I suppose just seemed odd. Any ideas as to why this is going on?

  13. For 55 grain I sould start out at 25.5 grains. I load 53 grain SMK's with 26.6 grains. That gives me 3,383 fps and is max. But starting at 25.5 should be fine.

I use 25.8 grains for 62 grain bullets.

Thanks, I'm going to start loading up a few tonight and hopefully get to the range this weekend. I've got to get a new tripod for my chronograph.

  14. i should have pressure data soon i finally found my oaeler 45 so i can do some testing only caster knows how messy my reloading room is

Do you still have a good supply of this powder? If my results turn out as well as everyone else's I'd like to get a good stock pile of it.
