I took the plunge earlier this year and got a Chapparel 1873 with a 24" barrel in 38/357. The 38 loads shot like a 22lr and the 357 shot like an AR15 (recoil-wise). The only issue I had was that it would rupture 38 blazer cases and then it ruptured a 357 brass round. I sent it back under warranty and now I am waiting for the replacement to be shipped.
I definitely recommend 38/357.

Why carry if you do not have a round chambered?
I always carry with a chambered round!

I'm jealous! Wish I were there to enjoy it instead of being in Canada working on a project!

Boston Legal. One of my favorite shows, ever. If Denny is going to be our President, then Alan Shore is a must have for the VP. Those two are a great match on the show.

I'm wanting an 1873 lever action in 38/357 and cannot decide between the 20" barrel and the 24" barrel. I think the 24" is better looking, but since I will use it for plinking, would I be satisfied with the 20"?
Also, is any one brand better than another?
Thanks for the replies!
