  1. 3-4 inches at 100 yards.

Sounds about what I was getting only advice I can give is use the heaviest bullet you can it will be the longest one which will help stabilize the bullet better. The rifling in these old Mausers is different than modern rifles and don't shoot lighter bullets as well as heaver ones. I know you most likely already know this but for the benefit of others that may read this thread wanted to point this out.

  2. Generally speaking you can fire any of the American 8mm Mauser factory ammo (Remington Federal Winchester) it is down loaded because of these old guns DO NOT FIRE the available surplus ammo it is too hot. I have two of these 88 Commission guns one is a rifle the other is a carbine if it hasn't been converted you will need a packet clip or just shoot it as a single shot.

  3. Even if the gun was in working order it is a $100.00 gun I agree with what has been said already the cost to repair will far exceed value. Just my two cents for what it is worth I just checked the ones on gunbroker that actually sold one or two may have went over the $100.00 mark most were under

  4. The "Cash America" pawn shops have a thirty day money back policy. I once bought an m & p 40 there and took it back because I did not like the way it shot. I also bought a marlin camp 45 at one for 260$ and sold it for 500$, so you can get some deals.
I too have bought several guns from Cash America you just have to know your stuff because most of the time they won't just know what the price should be before you buy.
  5. Maybe a .357Mag lever action? I wouldn't know how effective that would be against dear.

Very effective my youngest son took his first deer with one he was 10. I took it during gun season the same year and took a nice buck with it wound channel was impressive deer only ran a few yards and it was down for the count.

  6. French 1936 Mas seems well built mine has an excellent bore but accuracy is terrible with any bullet or load I have tried. My 1891 Carcano TS carbine has a smooth action and is accurate with the proper size bullet .268 not .264.

  7. Whatever makes you happy. If you gotta have, Have it! Rossi has really released some new stuff lately. This, the revolver rifle/shotgun, and now they have a Revolver/Leveraction/long gun hybrid. Now is that a weirdo or what.

See What happens when you leave your Revolver and lever action alone in a dark gunsafe too long
