  1. I have a Rossi break action that I have converted to shoot Trail Boss smokeless out of
  2. Ain't got a snowballs chance on the sun in passing don't get me wrong I would love to see it!  !
  3. Sounds about what I was getting only advice I can give is use the heaviest bullet you can it will be the longest one which will help stabilize the bullet better. The rifling in these old Mausers is different than modern rifles and don't shoot lighter bullets as well as heaver ones. I know you most likely already know this but for the benefit of others that may read this thread wanted to point this out.
  4. I have had a few Spanish Mausers and none of them grouped very well and they all had very good bores. What kind of groups are you getting ?
  5. Generally speaking you can fire any of the American 8mm Mauser factory ammo (Remington Federal Winchester) it is down loaded because of these old guns DO NOT FIRE the available surplus ammo it is too hot. I have two of these 88 Commission guns one is a rifle the other is a carbine if it hasn't been converted you will need a packet clip or just shoot it as a single shot.
  6. This information is already covered in the carry permit course at least the one I took and if not is available online.
  7. Even if the gun was in working order it is a $100.00 gun I agree with what has been said already the cost to repair will far exceed value. Just my two cents for what it is worth I just checked the ones on gunbroker that actually sold one or two may have went over the $100.00 mark most were under
  8. I went today seem like a pretty good show picked up a Savage 1899 take down chambered in 30 30. Never had one before trying to learn about it hope I didn't spend too much but that is the chance you take.
  9. I have not heard of any of these rifles shooting well my brother bought on in 500 S&W it doesn't do any better the trigger on his is awful but it is just a shotgun with a rifle barrel and that could be most of the problem.
  10. I shoot mine often with Greek surplus and recoil is no problem I stand 5 ft 6 and weigh 140 pounds my arms get tired long before recoil is a problem.
  11. I am like everyone else here I would have to see it I have a LCP and will have to try and see if I can do it slow fire. Like others have said it is NOT a target pistol.
  12. I too have bought several guns from Cash America you just have to know your stuff because most of the time they won't just know what the price should be before you buy.
  13. Very effective my youngest son took his first deer with one he was 10. I took it during gun season the same year and took a nice buck with it wound channel was impressive deer only ran a few yards and it was down for the count.

    worst rifle ever!

French 1936 Mas seems well built mine has an excellent bore but accuracy is terrible with any bullet or load I have tried. My 1891 Carcano TS carbine has a smooth action and is accurate with the proper size bullet .268 not .264.
  15. I agree with Garufa With the Mauser buttplate looks like a possible post war conversion by the Mauser co
  16. check the mag spring does it feed better with a full mag also check the nylon buffer located in the bolt gun parts co has a good break down of the parts
  17. Nashville is the worst I have ever seen but remember it is a government run operation it doesn't matter to them how long you wait they get paid the same and no chance of getting fired.
  18. It most likely was the same one it was on the last row of tables to your left as you went in. First guy in that row had a couple other smiths and a 3 screw super blackhawk.
  19. Went this morning picked up a Smith & Wesson 29-2 4 inch made about 1972 or 1973 for $525 so I am very happy
  20. here is a good link for all kinds of ammo including 32 S&W Long AmmoEngine: .32 S&W Long / .32 Smith & Wesson Long, Instock For Sale Premium & Discount Ammunition, Ammo Deals
  21. I will be there if I don't have to work looking for a good deal on a Smith & Wesson 29. I know good luck with that one but you never know what will show up.
  22. I have one but have not really done much accuracy testing give me a few days and I will shoot some groups to see. They will have to be done offhand but should give good enough results to tell if accuracy suffers
  23. It will be at the Holiday Inn convention center this weekend
  24. See What happens when you leave your Revolver and lever action alone in a dark gunsafe too long
