My intent is to build a rifle that will forever be able to exceed my abilities.

I lost that battle with a Carcano 6.5 Ital that I bought mail order for $19.99 in 1964.  It's been down hill since.

  2. Five grains of Winchester 231/HP-38/Ramshot Zip under a 200 gr. .45 SWC makes a mighty accurate and soft recoil target load.  It meters better than RD/Unique and shoots a lot cleaner.

I could see Hodgen discontinuing all winchester powders(they have owned Winchester powders for a long time) and just going with their own brands.

  3. Two words:  Bellshire Hardware.  $20 per transfer.

After your first transfer you are in their system.  You can call ahead when you head up there and they'll run your background while you are in transit.

Good folks to deal with.  But they only accept transfers from FFLs.

  4. I quit playing stupid a couple of years ago.  I oiled up all my .22rfs and put them into deep storage.

I can cast a bullet and reload my own .38s, 9mm or 30-30 cheaper than I can buy a .22rf cartridge.

Cast and reload.  Let somebody else be the victim of scalpers.

At this point, I don't think my grandkids would go back to shooting 22rf at any price.  The bragging rights for a 12 or 13 year old are lots greater for 9mm or 38 than .22

This illustrates that msnbc does not make up their own polls, don't read what others post for polls, and don't care because that generates 'clicks' which translates into ad revenue.

Go back to the site and make up your own poll.

  6. When you go in, find the manager and tell him that you found out about Royal from TGO and came in to visit and spend money because of the great reviews on this site.

  7. Here is a quote off handgunlaw.us:

430 ILCS 66/40 (e) Nothing in this Act shall prohibit a non-resident from transporting a concealed firearm within his or her vehicle in Illinois, if the concealed firearm remains within his or her vehicle and the non-resident: (1) is not prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under federal law; (2) is eligible to carry a firearm in public under the laws of his or her state or territory of residence, as evidenced by the possession of a concealed carry license or permit issued by his or her state of residence, if applicable; and (3) is not in possession of a license under this Act. If the non-resident leaves his or her vehicle unattended, he or she shall store the firearm within a locked vehicle or locked container within the vehicle in accordance with subsection  of Section 65 of this Act. (Source: P.A. 98-63, eff. 7-9-13.)

My take is that is says a TN HCP holder can have a concealed gun in their vehicle.

Anyone have any better insight into this?

  8. Did I mention that they have a semi-auto Ma Deuce on a tripod in there? If you're looking for one, they have it. :usa:

I asked the price on the .50 BMG.  I was told, sorry for rent only.  They have not worked out rental or range rates yet.

  9. A couple of years ago, I was shooting at another range in another state.  The club "brass rat" was there perched like a vulture waiting for the next piece of brass to hit the ground.  Rather that get cross with him as most members did, I said "Charlie, you should go out to Cavalier and scrounge brass.  They had a glock shoot there yesterday and the brass is ankle deep on every position".  I could see the pain in his eyes when he remembered that his membership at that club had been cancelled and he could not get in without a passcard and if he could, he would be arrested for trespass..

Every time I saw him thereafter, i would invent some story about mountains of brass laying on the ground in areas he could not access.

Sadistic, maybe, but it felt good.
