  1. We didn't use the AA's because the base wads didn't hold up as well as the Federals and Peters did. We could get about 5 or 6 reloads out of the Federals and about the same amount out of the Peters but only 2 or 3 loads out of the AA's. We shot a lot of trap in our teenage years years and my buddy went on to become the Illinois State Trap Shooting Champion but had to give it up when he received his draft notice and he joined the Navy. I got mine the following year and also joined the Navy.  He and his oldest son still shoots but not anywhere near as often since the firearms situation  has gotten so bad in Illinois that most Trap and Skeet clubs has closed down.

The most trap shooting I ever did was at the Navel Training Station - Great Lakes! This was in 1984, quite some time after you'd been invited to join-up... lol. There was a trap range and we helped reload and cleanup to shoot at cost... I could shoot 800 - 1,000 rounds in a weekend (man was my shoulder bruised!!!) The thing that to this day still shocks me is that we shoot over Lake Michigan (!).

I have recently shot trap at the Nashville Gun Club (http://www.nashvillegunclub.com/) and at Ceder City Gun Club (http://www.cedarcitygunclub.com/) and nothing has changed except both places use a voice activated release system, quite convenient (just don't talk to loud!).

  2. I absolutely detested the trigger on my first M&P (an old 9L) after I put the Apex USB and hard sear in it was wonderful! When I got my second M&P (a full size .45) it wasnt nearly as bad as the first one but I still thought nothing of doing the exact same mods to it!

  3. Here's a random hand of cases from my batch of about 500. Again, I've inspected closely and do not see anything resembline the "smile" portrayed by red333's post. Of course if I saw something that severe I'd be scrapping them immediately, but this is what I'm getting. I just got my 23 gen 4 this year and it's manufacture is January 2013. From what I've read, Glock has made some corrections on the distance that the feed ramp is cut into the barrel on the new pistols, the photos I researched of some of the older ones kabooming were horrific. I took out my barrel and dropped a round in just to see how far down that cut out for the feed ramp goes... it's nowhere near as deep as the older barrels I've seen. Of course I could just get a different barrel, but I don't want to go that route unless absolutely necessary.

I have to say that after looking at the first sets of pictures (above) the only thing I can see is the dent that has been created from the ejector (and in my opinion, isn't that bad, I have seen much larger dents). I do not know anything about bulge busters but it may not be a wise idea to use the BB prophylactically (if the case hasn't bulged yet). Sometime the cure is as bad or maybe worse than the disease! Just a thought, I'm not expert.

  4.

Now that it appears the supply or reloading supplies may be a little easier to find, I decided to try my hand at reloading. I thought I would start a thread to, (1)  introduce myself to other reloaders and (2) apologize in advance for the questions I am sure to post in the coming days, months and weeks.

I guess the first order of business is to say welcome to the reloading club! I started reloading in about the same way, for the same reason, not to long ago, myself.

If I may make 1 suggestion: why don't you tell us what part of the state you are in and maybe someone here will be close to you.

  5. WoW! I'm getting to this party late but wanted to send my good thoughts and prayers your way! Very cool that it seems the doc.s were able to put all of the peices where they at least look like they belong, My advice is hang on to the reloading gear, even if you uninstall it now (and I do not blame you one little bit for wanting todo just that) but you may feel differenttly in a few months or even a year from now.
  6. I bought an Amish belt from hanksclothing.com
It's cheap and you could tow a tank with it. I got a 1.5 inch width. The only pants the belt loops are kind of tight on are dickies.

^^ +1 - I bought one from Hank's also, and have recommended it to several people.

I also bought a leather belt from Blade Tech - it has a piece of kydex in between the 2 pieces of leather. It is excellent, unless you are fat like me OR you make the mistake of leaving it lying on the floor and you step on it. It WILL NOT crush!

  7. It is hard on those of us left behind... it seems like this was a really good guy and makes it very, very hard because his passing leaves a void in many peoples lives. In the end that is really the only honor anyone will recive, to be missed. I am sorry for you and his family's loss.

  8. Thanks.  I got it off one of the senior moderators on Rimfire Central who had nearly an identical pair of these. Now I have to become a more disciplined shooter to really enjoy it.  Of course it likes to eat expensive ammo for really good groups.

HA! Its much easier for me... 1. It was the first gun I ever bought (I was a kid), got it from a local pawn shop for about $35 - the barrel was really badly pitted from rust. I used to just love to go to WallyWorld and buy  cheap loads and make the dirt spew. Wish I still had it, or at least another one.

    Excellent example btw!

  9. You said a zero turn is to expensive but I was mowing 2 acres, plus weed eating. I got a z turn and cut the mowing time to about an hour and (added bonus here) it cut the weed-eating time to not being done very often. It is expensive but it only hurts once (and the Home Depot models are getting cheaper every day)! It REALLY reduces the time required. Of course if you do the math it may be cheaper to pay someone else to do it for you.
