  1. So, I guess I don't count? I realize this guy is former founder and former CEO but he is still on the BOD.

We called Costco corp today and cancelled our membership because of his speech at the DNC. Screw them! I loved the place but when they pull a "Dixie Chick", they've drawn the line for the left.

In my humble opinion they should have remained apolitical!

Maybe if they really believe in the left's positions, we should get all our groceries for free..

  2. 6.8, that's a great call and that's the problem!!!

With that great idea I pulled the barrel out of the upper then I dropped a round into the chamber and got a rough measurement and came up with almost 2/10" from the primer to the face of the lugs that will engage the bolt. The lugs on the bolt are are 3/10" wide. So it looks like the round isn't fully seating in the chamber by around 1/10 of an inch.

I'll send it back to Smith & Wesson tomorrow.

Guys, Thank you for the help. I didn't want to give the upper to S&W without trying to fix it myself. I'm stubborn like that. :-)

  3. I have a Smith&Wesson 5.45 upper that I can't get the bolt to fully seat with a round in chamber. Barrel has 5.45 stamped on it so I am sure it's really a 5.45 upper besides a 556 won't chamber at all.

I have the upper off of the lower and sitting upside down on my bench. When I open and close the bolt it fully seats without a 5.45 round in it. When I put a 5.45 into the chamber and try to full seat the bolt it rotates closed only about 90% closed. I can force the bolt closed with the forward assist but then getting the unspent round out I have to use a cleaning rod to push it out while pulling on the charging handle.

Any ideas? I'd like to try to fix it myself before I send it back tomorrow.

(side note) I had to argue with the "tech" at S&W because he told me the upper HAS a serial number. :D

    Thank you in advance!

  4. Thanks Wind. I have those directions. I'm thinking the range is West of Ashland City like I am. I guess I need to go to Ashland City first and drive back to the range from there.

Directions from anywhere else must not be possible. "Can't get there from here." :-0

    Thank you Monkey!

  5. My wife and I were sitting on the couch watching the toob enjoying coffee on our first anniversary. Being both of us work for the airlines and a friend was supposed to be flying an American Airlines flight from Boston to Los Angeles we sat in horror. Luckily for our friend, he was on vacation.

September 12 was the strangest day for us, not a plane in the sky, not a plane moving at the airport right next to us and not even a contrail in the sky. For the first time in my life I missed jet noise. I've been around airplanes since I was a small child and from 9-11-2001 I said to myself that I will never will get annoyed by an airplane's noise ever again.

  6. Guys, I've done a TGO search, I swear. But I can find directions to the Cheatham WMA Firing Range. I can find direction from Ashland City but can't find a physical address or and intersection. I live near Dickson and don't want to drive east of the range to use the only directions I can find. I've been there but it was years ago and I remember using crossroads to find it. I've tried the phone number listed and can't get any answer when I call.

    Anybody got any ideas?

    Thank you!

  7. I have 2 Blue Streaks and a Silver Streak that I got from my Grandfather. One of the Blue Streaks will build pressure when pumping without cocking the bolt first. The other will NOT build any pressure unless you cock the bolt first. The guns all look identical except for the color on the Silver Streak. Just wondering if there is something wrong with one or two of them. Any insight would be appreciated.

I have a 92-97 397 model and it won't build pressure without cocking the bolt first. I don't know if that helps you or not.

I have been wanting to reseal my airgun and this thread pushed me to do it. :-)

Now the deck eating squirrels at my house will fear me, again!

  8. Thanks guys for all the help. Right after I got the 545 I painted the flash hider so I would put the wrong ammo in it. Plus, I have gone over and over every bolt I own and I don't have one that is marked 5.45.

OK, at least I'm not crazy.

Karnage, My 556's will seat like that but the 545's won't. That's exactly the picture I needed.

Thank you soooo much. You guys take the rest of the day off with pay! LOL

  9. Ok, so I bought a dedicated complete 5.45 upper from Smith and Wesson. Took it out yesterday and could not get it into battery. I noticed the bolt wasn't fully seating. So I pulled the bolt out of the carrier and grabbed a few 556 rounds and a few 545 rounds. The 556 rounds would seat completely flat inside the bolt. The 545 rounds wouldn't. The "lip"(the part the extractor grabs to throw the hull out) of the 545 cartridge would not go in at all, it's bigger in diameter. Is there a 'special' bolt or do I have several thousand rounds of 545 I can't shoot because it's not made for a "AR" style 545 upper?

I am out of ideas. I have pulled every bolt I own out of their hosts and can't find any that will accept the 545 cartridge.

    Thanks for your help...

  10. It must take a lot of balls for a liberal commie to allow something to proceed that has

been in the works for years. I'm glad it is a mission accomplished, but taking credit for

the mission is a stretch. The soldiers deserve that credit.

The soldiers do deserve all the credit. AMEN. But I'd say I'm surprised this president let our fine military do their job and kill a brother muslim.

  11. Still NOTHING! It's always the same old story "Two Weeks". "They will be ready in two weeks" every time I call.

I'm done waiting I have been more than patient with these guys!

F 'em! I really wanted that 7.5 inch piston upper.

I wonder if they are pulling one of those scams where they get people to buy in and leave with the all money?

The other day I was on their web site and it said the Warthog uppers are ready to ship. So, I called to see where mine was at. Garrett said it'll go out right away either today or tomorrow. I called two days later for a tracking # and they said, "Our supplier didn't heat treat the _______, so It'll be a few weeks before they ship."

They have lied to me the last time! :poop: :poop: :poop: :poop:
