OK, so my parents moved a while back and while helping them pack stuff I came across an old Mossberg shotgun. My dad gave it to me, and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. Its a model 185D-A bolt action 20 Gage. From what I could find it was made around 1950.

Looks like the 185D-A was made between 1947-1959. It probably doesn't have a serial # on it since it's that old, and there doesn't seem to be much info on it out there. You can find some of the manuals for it on ebay and gunbroker, and there are also some sites that still have parts for it. They don't seem to be worth a whole lot because there isn't much demand for bolt action shot guns, which is kinda strange since I couldn't find much on them on any auctions, but I wouldn't mind having one. I'd hang on to it, the gun market changes all the time, so it might be worth a ton some day.

It would be good to have a magazine so it will be complete and would fire if needed, but it sounds like one to just put up as it was from your father. Kind of just a keepsake.

Yeah, Im not getting rid of it (unless it was worth a ton of money;) ). It not in bad shape, but its not MINT by any means, so I will just hang on to it.
