So I bit on this deal today...

Two things intrigued me about it. For one thing, I don't have a .40, and should good 9mm and possibly .45 defensive ammo become scarce again, I'd like to have options. And second, I just love Sigs. There's something about them to me. I love the way they look and the way they feel. I don't shoot them particularly well for some reason, at least compared to others - but I'm hoping to improve that with a little more trigger time.

For those of you who have a p239, especially in .40, what are your opinions of the gun?

I have owned two Sig 239's. It's a great gun and a great shooter. The downfall is the low capacity compared to guns similar in size. Know that many holsters that fit a Sig 239 in 9mm will not fit a 40 or 357. The slide is machined differently.

I like the 239 on 9mm. It is one of my favorites. I like the frame and wide trigger guard. It conceals well too. I am pretty accurate with it. To me the main drawbacks are weight and capacity as a carry option. Overall, I don't think you could go wrong with it.

I have the .40. Good gun. Same weight as the Glocks that I carry but half the capacity. Mine is NOT an SAS. When I carry IWB the hammer rubs my skin. I would recommend getting the sweat shield on a holster to completely guard against the hammer area. Very consistent. I shoot most accurately with that gun than my others.

I've owned two of the 239 models...a standard model in 40sw and a SAS model with the DAK trigger. Both were superbly accurate but in the end I foolishly traded them for plastic guns with more capacity. Big mistake! Your 239 is a keeper!

It's good to hear that. I've been struggling with keeping it for the same type trade. What makes you regret it?
