But for the antis, it's not about safety, it's about control.

The only thing Im interested in controlling is the number of mass shooter events, particularly in schools.  Hopefully, you never get to experience what those 6 families are feeling. What thousands upon thousands of families have experienced.

"The Federalist is an American conservative online magazine and podcast that covers politics, policy, culture, and religion, and publishes a newsletter.[1][2][3][4] The site was co-founded by Ben Domenech and Sean Davis and launched in September 2013.[4]

During the COVID-19 pandemic, The Federalist published many pieces that contained false information, pseudoscience, and contradictions or misrepresentations of the recommendations of public health authorities.[5][6][7] While ballots were being counted in the 2020 United States presidential election, The Federalist made false claims that there had been large-scale election fraud.[8][9]"

No it's still the case, unless you think 18 and 19 year olds are "kids".  The devil is in the details, if you look closely at the research paper they're referring to you'll see they label "kids" as 0-19.  And 80+% of those deaths are in the 15-19 age group.

If you have or have had an 18-19 year old I think you will still call them kids.

I can’t speak for every state, but in TN people receive medical and mental care everyday, whether they can afford to pay for it or not. When you say government provided health care it means healthcare that is paid for by all the rest of us. The Hospital systems are all run like for profit businesses regardless of their tax status, and they will gladly care for the poor while simultaneously milking our tax money from the government and from us again through ridiculously high medical costs. As someone who works at the ground floor of the medical system (Fire/EMS) I can tell you that the people most likely to not get the care they really need are those solidly in the middle class. The poor and immigrants abuse the healthcare system more than anyone, so don’t even try that as an argument.

That woman who died in police care sure didnt seem to get any medical care after she was stabilized now did she?

What has become clear to me is that despite their liberal thinking, they can be very close minded and down right hateful to anyone who disagrees with them. They don't believe in live and let live. Many of them are of the opinion that if you disagree with them and they can't convert you, they would rather see you dead. Now that's scary.

    Ironic lol.

Now this becomes a medical/insurance treatment issue as well. And maybe (probably) that is really the bigger issue here that needs to be addressed. I feel fairly certain that “we” understand it was not the firearm that made this happen, it was the tool used.

It's almost as if we should have some way for people to receive care even if they can't afford it.  Some type of I dont know, government-provided health care.

I know this is a slippery slope, and I don’t know where I stand on the issue right now. But if flagging her was possible, and if the law required that all gun transfers went through a background check, it would have been more difficult for her to get a firearm.

    Careful! you are turning liberal.

Nope. If they wish for an armed presence they must pay for that out of their budget. No taxpayer assistance involved in that one.

My running group would meet up at the Jewish Community Center in Bellevue just west of this area.  They had armed security. Did not appear to be contracted (no private company logos) so maybe off duty police?  Either way there would be the personnel in town if they looked for them.

My wife works less than a mile from there. Truly horrific situation.

    MNPD engaged quickly.

My kids went to Woodmont for Preschool (where they evaced students) and my daughter went to a school on Hobbs Rd (Hobbs was closed by the police during this).  My wife works in a Metro Nashville elementary school.

    Pretty damn close to home.

I enjoy working on my vehicles. Until 5 years ago I had never changed my own oil. Last weekend I replaced my lower control arms on my truck. It took me 8 hours but I enjoyed the challenge. Still not sure I'm brave enough to attempt the timing belt. 😀

I bought an electric dirt bike last year that I've enjoyed riding and also working on it.

My wife and I enjoy traveling (her more than me). Last year we went to Spain. This year we're going to Finland and Estonia.

I also enjoy working on my house. I'm trying to work up the motivation to lay tile.

I did some adjustable control arms, front and back, on my jeep this weekend.

  12. The woman's family lives out of state.  She used to live here. Had moved up to the NE US.  She had a stroke in 2019.  Thus the photos with her family in a hospital.  She decided to come back to East TN to live with a friend.  On the flight back she started feeling unwell and was taken to the first hospital.

The woman wasn't able to do anything for herself or think coherently enough to get a ride... plus she knows she still needs medical help.

It really does relate to the 2A in a very fundamental way. If paper money goes away and is replaced with digital (and don't think that can't happen. Almost all your bank transactions and credit card purchases are digital) then Uncle Sugar will be able to monitor every purchase made by everyone. Data drives the modern world, and a fully digital economy would make it easy to see where you and I spend our money.

The implications go far beyond the 2A, of course. I'm an old, retired guy. With the current ESG protocols it would be pretty easy to say, "Hey, that guy's retired, he sure doesn't need to fill his gas tank more than once a month", and set it up so that the gas station won't take my money card.

I can think of some benefits, too, but those I can think of are not worth the downside.

All my purchases are digital already.

I knew a lot of people here were gonna hate episode 3.  The reality is that people are gay. I didn't find any agenda.

This show is leaps and bounds better than The Walking Dead.

Plus it's not anything hollywood did as Bill (offerman's character) is gay in the game.
