A good 1911 for everyday carry is a Colt Defender, I have had one for the last 10 years and have not had a single issue with it. Plus it also comes in 9mm. New they are around $900.00 but I expect you could find a used one in the $600.00 range.

I have two and agree, but they are .45.

I don't think I've ever heard that before. Without checking a map of their range, I do think we have them up here in MN. Sounds pretty familiar, at least...

I'm sure you've heard one, you just didn't think it was a bird.

  3. Could be a Mileomo. This bird digs a hole in the ground to stick it's head in before it passes gas because you can hear it for a mileomo. My dad used to have me listen for them if we were out hunting, funny he always knew when one was digging a hole.

  4. He has been in the hospital after coughing blood for the last two weeks. His lungs are covered in tumors and three days of chemo for that has held us up till today waiting for his stem cells to multiply. We may be able to harvest stem cells on Monday and then more chemo. We are on borrowed time but still in the fight. I just wanted to give an update.
