  1. Not a problem, and if your looking for a shotgun, the Dayton store has a Mossberg Maverick 88 12gauge pump for 187.99. It's next on my list. If your a fan of Mossberg rifles they had a .270 there but I'm not sure of the model. Also had the Remington Model 770 for 297 and they had a Remington Model 700 for 367 I think it was. Hixson probably carries all those as it seems most Walmarts carry the same guns. The savage I bought comes in a Camo paint too, but it was a bit more expensive.
  2. Jonnin, the one in Dayton does as that is where I bought my rifle. The one in Soddy Daisy does and I'm almost positive the one in Hixson does as well. All those stores are only 15-30 minute drive depending where exactly you live. If your ever in Athens they still sell them too
  3. I will probably be getting a Harris, someone had told me a good bipod would be a couple hundred that' why I was worried about price lol. $70-$80 for a quality Harris isn't bad at all
  4. Had to go with the cookies and cream...I'm a sucker for that flavor, don't know why And yea, my scope shipped today so hopefully will have it in a day or two...will post updated pic when I get it
  5. I have a Savage Edge .308 win, I'm looking for a Bi-Pod that will attack to the front sling connector instead of tightening on my barrel. I have seen them on youtube videos and such but I can't seem to find one, all I am finding are the barrel ones. Looking to get one at a decent price.
  6. I am on the southern end of Meigs county, showing 14 miles from Watts Bar and about 18 Miles from Sequoyah. I will NOT have a fun time either North or South if something happens. =/
  7. Not the best picture, was taken with my droid. That's a box of Federal ammo, figured I'd buy the cheap stuff until I get used to the gun. Just ordered me a scope off opticsplanet.net It comes with picatinny weaver rings, are those decent or should I invest in better rings before I mount?
  8. Hah, I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow. I really like it so far, but I need a scope for it. Anyone know of a decent low cost scope that will mount out of box to get me started? And yea they do have pretty good prices...I'm sure if I called all the gun stores in east tn I could have probably found the scoped edge for around the same price or maybe someone could have beat their price but I would have to drive forever to get it. Walmart had a good price on a Mossberg Maverick 12 gauge pump that I've got my eye on as well
  9. I have been wanting to get into bench shooting and have been looking at a very inexpensive way to do this. After reading a lot into it I started my search for a Mosin Nagat. However, considering it for a long time I decided to purchase a new weapon rather than have to deal with any cosmoline removal or anything. So, today I purchased a Savage Edge, I think they calll them Axis now, in a .308 win caliber. It weighs in at what feels like around 6 lbs without scope, but for the gun design and it being a Savage, I just couldn't pass it up for the price. Usually, I stay away from Walmart, but today I hang my head in shame as this is where I bought the gun. I called around to some Gun shops and no one could beat their price, or they didn't carry the caliber I wanted. Walmart has the gun in .223, 30-06, 7mm, .308 and there was another caliber I think, but I really don't remember. They have it for $267.77, a great deal if you ask me. I was out the door for $333, that was the gun, a box of ammo, a swivel target, a can of oil and a carton of Ice cream Now, to find me a scope so I can get some range time in!
  10. Hello all, I'm from Meigs County, just found this fine forum after recently deciding to take up bench shooting as a hobby. I've been around guns all my life, used to do a bit of rabbit and deer hunting and used to be taken to ham/turkey shoots. As I said, decided to take up bench shooting and hopefully this weekend will be purchasing a Mosin Nagant to start out with. Have already had a good experience with this forum answering a question of mine and hope to be around here for quite a while.
  11. Thanks Jonnin, I was acutally reading a post about the NICS system right before you posted, I'm glad it's not like an employer background check because I am very impatient lol. I plan to head to Tri-City this weekend, but will probably stop in Benton Shooters Supply to see if they have any and their price
  12. I have never purchased a gun from a store before and was wondering the steps required? I see a lot of people talking about walking in, buying the gun, and leaving...but I thought some kind of background check was required? Is it because their an NRA member or some kind of member of something? Or do they only do background checks for handguns? Sorry new to the buying experience just want to make sure I have all I need the day I buy
  13. Thanks for the quick responses! Jonnin, I'll have to check into the one in cleveland since cleveland is only about a 15 minute drive from where I live. Rom, I've been hearing a lot of good stuff about tri city...I am definiately going to check them out this coming weekend. Dou, Is the c&r license the one that let's guns over 50 yrs be shipped to your home? Mdunn, I replied to your pm
  14. Hello all, I've recently decided I want to take up range shooting and just collecting guns in general. Before I start throwing money out the window for rifles, I want to buy a decent inexpensive one to practice my aim with. I'm not unfamiliar with rifles, or any weapon for that matter, as I used to hunt with a Marlin 30-30 and rabbit hunt with a 4/10 shotgun. Anyway to the point, someone suggested a a Mosin Nagant M91/30 for a good range weapon to get my practice in as the gun is cheap and so is the ammo. I am wondering if anyone knows a gun shop in eastern Tennessee that sells these? It doesn't have to be the 91/30, I would take the m44(I think that's the model # for the shorter version?), but I would prefer the 91/30. Also, is it common when buying these weapons to get the universal tool and ammo pouches that I commonly see? Thanks for your time EDIT: Also, I'm looking for a decent rifle range, preferably in the Chattanooga area, as I live in Meigs County. I know of the one at Gee Creek in Delano, I've been there once but I want more of a membership type range.
