  1. Sell them in bulk to vetted FFL dealers/distributors. This will mitigate the risk of retaliatory blame on the police department if some unlucky gun gets used twice in a crime as it will pass multiple hands thus transfer responsibility from the dept. and allow the dept. to focus on it's primary tasks while still generating some revenue (any is profit, technically). Furthermore, I think the idea of the police dept as FFL store front is horrible just in principle and takes business from small business owners. Some people would buy the rehashed guns Just because the police are selling. I believe this to be the path of least resistance, if you want to encourage some radical new paradigm with off-duty LEOs picking up a few extra hours workin in the PD gun shop selling to Fred-Jo-Daryll off the street then you're going to need to keep standby with some Permatex grease for them kinks in the gears. Better to speed the process by making this as easy for them to get rid of as so we can get at them sooner.

  2. Her street is about 30 min from home and about 10 min from where I worked for almost 2 years. 'We salute you home-invader shooter lady'. Just once I wish the news would run a bit on this during the evening lineup every 30 min and tell people to go their website and find links to information to protect yourself at home with the purchase of a new firearm and where to receive training in its use. If it was a story of the risk of inhalation of some obscure paint color with trace amounts of lead they would be telling you to Logon to our website find out which 3 lot/batch numbers 'MAY BE PUTTING YOUR CHILDREN AND PETS AT RISK!! Like us on Facebook.'

  3. First trip out carrying I felt like I had a few giant blinky red arrows with horns over head and kept wondering why people weren't staring at me and clutching their children in fear and calling civil authorities. Then it was like oh yeah uhm they don't know. I've carried a knife for 20+ years, two knives for 10+ years and I stopped considering people's reactions to them either. My knives have yet to hop out of my pocket and go on a vengeful murderous spree either. I do feel naked when I'm not carrying which is rare thankfully, kinda like not having a phone or wallet on you. You may not need either one immediately but you know they're missing anyways and you don't like it.

  4. While I appreciate the analytical prowess of the author in summarizing 10yrs of media/reports data I think that it's subjective thus moot. The rest of the people shot with 22s ran off and weren't available for interview hah. If the 9mm users were taking the most shots of any caliber group then it's very possible that entire set of data is invalid because it's skewed by potentially incompetent shooters. If Old Dead Eye McMahon standing next to me can kill a squirrel at 100paces with a 22target pistol and I can't hit the broadside of a dumpster with a buckshot that says nothing whatsoever Objectively about the stopping power of the respective weapons, calibers, grain, etc. 'Stopping power or penetration effectiveness' involve a variety of Scientific variables that change as the conditions of the shooting arena itself changes. Just get the biggest caliber you can handle effectively for an extended duration to ensure you learn to shoot that weapon and feed correctly and optimally & that you can carry it comfortably otherwise it's as useful as the machete in my closet.

  5. Mother-in-law just got the LC9 and loves it. This just 3 months after my father-in-law purchased his first post-service(vietnam) firearm a glock9mm. Like to think I've inspired them lol. And get to give my wife a little shove cause her parents are runnin out gettin em while she dawdles. Took her up to the shop the other day and let her try it out but her hands are bigger than most womens hah so I think she's goin to probably end up with a full size or slightly larger subcompact. I've tried to convey the sexiness of a woman holdin a 50cal wearin garters and she just gives me the slow blinks of death, dunno.

  6. There's a newer one been open half a year I think, on Old Hickory off I40W heading towards Bellevue called Guns & Ammo Depot. Buncha knowledgable nice guys in there, good atmosphere. Little light on inventory what with bein newer and all but they can get it & they're competitive on pricing. Some of the guys have been working the gun shows in TN for years so if you've been to those you'll likely recognize them!

  7. I think they suggest the 22 for qualifying to minimize accuracy compensation issues from recoil. The idea is not to set you up to fail. If you get a range membership and go consistently then maybe in a worse case scenario Your lawyer can provide evidence that you have put thousands of rounds through your 'whatever caliber' firearm. If there is really a question of your competency in handling then you would probably be dealing with a stray bullet to innocent bystander in which case you are probably screwed already because you are talking about a civil trial anyways. Otherwise what you are really discussing is justifiable use of deadly force probably in a criminal trial, which stands irrelevant of a 22 or a 50cal. Just practice good and alot to avoid the first. Then practice some more and alot to know what you will do when the situation occurs.

  8. These signs were only recently put up (mid June) though this Target location which has been selling beer for almost 6-9 months I believe. I wonder if an ABC inspector misinformed them. These signs are what had me scouring the internet to find answers which led me to joining this forum. I got nothing but run around from Target corp and dodgy answers about corporate compliance in signage from Steve the store team leader. I frequent this store and feel that while the statement of law is antiquated and not applicable Anyways it should be removed since it will do nothing but promote confusion if I print while CC or feel like OC'ing in 99dangdegreeweather and lead some store employee to feel obligated to confront me regarding carrying in the store. Hopefully they will remove them, I was most incensed because the font of the text is several sizes larger than the smaller signs below it saying 'Alcohol can't be served to minors' & 'ID must be shown for alcohol purchases' etc. And there are no entrance signs. Thank you JohnL for mentioning this!
