  1. There is a "click bait" ad going around Facebook saying that the winners are giving away money if they "like and share". It amazes me how stupid people are. I don't know why I let it bother me. I was even reading some of the comments on different news stories about the winners and people are begging for money and putting up their sob stories.

    Rediculous.

Life generally sucks for people who choose to be this stupid and greedy. They have what's coming to them.

  2. Easy. Dollar Stores, Dollar General, etc. have been making inroads into the Podunk, USA markets. Walmart being Walmart means that that was unacceptable, thus the "mini-Walmarts". These stores haven't worked, at least in some markets, therefore they have to go ...

I have heard more than one person in the corporation say that a Walmart does not have to be profitable in their eye; it only needs to make business unprofitable for other retailers.

    Now it makes sense.
  3. I think the plan was to crush Walgreens / CVS in markets that could not support a traditional big box.

Walgreens is owned by the same people.

I've seen these Neighborhood Walmarts pop up, and they stick them across the road from stores that already have a customer base and rewards systems to maintain those customers. They built one across the road from our Winn-Dixie, but I don't see hardly any cars parked over there by comparison. Just seems like a bad idea from the start, and if I could see that I would think their board could see that. I'm not at all surprised they failed in that endeavor. They should stick to supercenters and try to break into internet sales, like Amazon.
  4. If need be I can come out of retirement but this is not it. Waiting for the right one to make my return as epic as possible.

It's just been so quiet around here for a while. I think the site has successfully purged all evil doers. There is no other gun forum like this one.
  5. I personally thought it was terrible and ridiculous. Top 10 worst movie of all time for me.

I'll admit that the movie was quite indulgent, but that's the way it's supposed to be. How do you one up the previous movie which had Tina Turner and Master Blaster? F'ing flaming metal guitars, that's how.

  6. I have yet to meet a professional person working for the TSA. I'm sure they exist, but I've never met one, and I fly regularly. If someone talked to me on the streets the way TSA idiots have talked to me, they would have been shut down ricky tick. Of course, if I responded to TSA morons in the manner they deserved, I'd be jailed as a terrorist and would never be able to fly again. Every TSA agent can go eff themselves.

  7. Like TMF, I found out by accident.  It started with some bulk .40 S&W ammo and a Glock 22.  My 13 year old son was loading and shooting and I was at the bench next to him working on something.  There was a shot that sounded like a squib load and the gun didn't cycle.  I got involved and cleared the gun, the bullet cleared the barrel and the case in the picture below is all the proof I have of the fact it can happen.   The remainder of the bulk ammo was check and no more 9mm was found.

I found out when I was shooting my dad's newly issued Beretta 96.  His agency switched from the 92 to the 96, so I wanted to give it a shot.  He was up shooting and I was jamming mags for myself.  Apparently there was still a box of 9mm in there mixed with his .40 ammo, so I loaded the wrong stuff.  I locked and loaded, went to fire and the damn thing wasn't cycling.  I shot 3 rounds through it before I dropped the mag and took a look.  BTW, it still grouped just fine at 10m with 9mm in a .40 barrel.

  8. I don't know if they've gone after anyone...seems more like it would be used as a tack on charge if nothing else.  Their current opinion holds that the brace is legal, and doesn't convert the pistol to a rifle, so long as the pistol isn't fired with the brace against the shoulder.

There was a whole to-do with ATF telling SIG that the brace was okay used in any way since it was never designed to be fired from the shoulder.  SIG even put a copy of that documentation on their website, and a copy in the brace packaging if memory serves.  Then with enough people rocking the boat asking ATF "are you sure?" in combination with the explosion of sales, the not so subtle "f-u's" to the ATF, and probably a loss of revenue with a diminishing of Form 1/Form 4 tax stamps, firing an AR pistol with a SIG brace from the shoulder made it an SBR and the shooter in violation of federal law.

Here's a good background on how ATF reversed itself on the decision.  Political pressure can task lawyers to justify anything.

    http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/12/robert-farago/atf-dont-use-sig-brace-as-shoulder-stock-without-nfa-stamp/

But yeah, their word is, shall we say, finicky.  I don't see this trigger being anything close to the SIG brace in terms of market share, but if it gets big enough, I can see them saying it ain't semi-auto.

One thing is for sure, there hasn't been a decrease in the number of form 1/4's going up to the ATF.

I'd be really curious about whether or not they'd choose to pursue charges for the use of the Sig brace as a shoulder stock.  They'd be hard pressed to get a conviction, and the result would be some case law on it actually being legal.  The ATF can rule on just about anything.  They could figure out some convoluted reason why my 28 inch turkey shotgun is illegal, I'm sure.  Doesn't mean that it's illegal.  Just their opinion.  My guess is they're not going to submit charges for cases they're destined to lose, and the result be the clear legalization of things they don't like.

  9. PDs won't issue "smart guns". There is a reason. Even 50 years from now the technology won't be reliable enough to bet your life on. People who talk of "smart guns" being a viable solution are the same people who say, "shoot them in the leg rather than shoot to kill." These are the people who watch too many movies and believe it's reality; stupid people. Their opinions don't matter any more than the opinions of a toddler.

  10. If one pull of the trigger (and I'm including the reset) results in more than one round being fired, how is it still a semi-automatic weapon?

That's not just me asking, that's a federal judge asking in the future.

ATF says it's cool. I'm assuming since releasing the trigger is still an action, just as if it were a trigger that needed to be pushed forward rather than pulled; pulling then releasing are two separate actions.
