  1. It's always a good idea to have some cash in your portfolio.  When there is a "crash" or major correction, then bargains abound.  And then it's time to buy, buy, buy!!  I like to focus on the following six metrics:

    1. Return on Invested Capital (ROIC or ROC) ≥ 10%
    2. Book Value per Share (BVPS) Growth Rate ≥ 10%
    3. Sales Growth Rate ≥ 10%
    4. EPS Growth Rate ≥ 10%
    5. Cash Growth Rate ≥ 10%
    6. Debt (Payable in 3 years)
  2. Ran into this article the other day.  Looks promising.

    https://www.warhistoryonline.com/war-articles/remaining-government-stock-of-wwii-m1911s-handguns-to-be-sold-off-to-the-public.html

The upcoming National Defense Authorization Act that passed committee includes a plan to transfer the U.S. Army’s remaining stock of .45 ACP 1911A1 pistols to the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

Added as an amendment by Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Alabama, while the NDAA was in debate in the House Armed Service Committee, it could see potentially the largest remaining stock of military surplus World War II-era handguns in government hands sold to the public.

  3. I'm gonna watch it but I'm afraid it's going to be drama filled instead of quality craftsmanship. I don't see making a knife/sword as a half hour deal but I guess we will see.

Yeah......jury is definitely out for now.  If the show doesn't treat the art and craft of knifemaking respectfully, I'll lose interest pretty quickly.

  4. I am not knowledgeable on this so I'm not trying to be a smart aleck, but why a 5 year wait? Does he have that much business or does he just work on making them on a limited basis?

Excellent question.  Short answer:  demand exceeds capacity.  Each knife is individually hand-crafted.  This takes quite awhile and they just don't take any shortcuts in their knifemaking process. The old man, Bo Randall, was a fanatic about quality and I truly believe that same spirit remains in their operation today.

I think they have an interesting history. Randall Made has always been a small, family-owned business.  They really began to be noticed during WWII and the demand for their blades from soldiers, sailors/marines, airmen just took off.  So....over the years demand has just grown to point where today it takes them 4 to 5 years to fulfill a custom order.  The line to get one of these knives is simply that long.
