  1. No - there is no such requirement to be a club member.
  2. Also a member of ORSA and love it.... in fact I am just getting back from ahooting there. Great range and great people!
  3. I and my family/friends have been using Freedom Munitions for years now for new and re-manufactured ammo.  Great prices and reasonable shipping - if you watch, they frequently have free shipping or % off in a wide range of calibers.  I "think", it's been a few years, that your first order with them ships free. We've never had any issues with either the new or reman and the FedEx/UPS guy couldn't care less (other than the fact that the 1k cases are pretty heavy).
  4. NRA Shooting Glasses - the ultimate in BCGs (Birth Control Glasses)  http://www.nrastore.com/nra-otg-shooting-glasses   I may buy a pair until I get my lasik surgery...   -Jon
  5. I jumped on the e-book wagon years ago and every year the e-readers models get better and better.   I own several (read many) models and, in short, my "hands-down" favorite is the Amazon Paper-White.   The model I own is the "Special Offers" model that is currently priced at $79.00 Direct link here: http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Glare-Free-Touchscreen-Display-Wi-Fi/dp/B00I15SB16/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1418045410&sr=8-10&keywords=paperwhite   The "Special Offers" should not concern anyone - the offers only run as a screen saver when you are NOT reading the e-book, turn the screen off - no advertising.   The features I (and you) will love, in order of MY favorites: 1) The Paperwhite is back lit - yup, you can use it in a dark room, airplane, cave, etc... 2) The text/screen is so good - you can read in direct sunlight.  Seriously - I take it to the lake every summer and read in direct sunlight 3) Battery lasts a long, long time - weeks for me 4) It's small enough to be super portable - it is the same dimensions as a paperback, just a heck of a lot thinner. 5) The font is very adjustable - in the summer, I crank up the font and read without my glasses   I also own, in addition to my e-readers, a couple of tablets. Honestly, I have a laptop for all my PC needs - trying to surf the web or answer emails on a small tablet screen sucks. I buy my readers to READ BOOKS and the Paperwhite meets that need and then some.   The P-White is one small device that can hold 1000's of books, that I can read in any light condition and, if you are near "wi-fi", I can buy books on the fly.   Hope this helps, PM me with any ?'s   P.S. - if you subscribe to Amazon Prime, you get one free "Prime" book a month.  I am usually counting down the days until I get my free "Prime" book and have my free books planned out for months ahead of time.   P.S.S - this site has 100s of free Amazon books: http://centslessbooks.com/science-fiction.html You have to wade through a lot of romance (yeah - I know), but it is worth it!!!   I have literally 100s of books I got from free by looking on this site. If I see a title that looks interesting, I do the following: 1) click on the book and it opens in in Amazon with a price of $0.00 2) read the reviews and if it looks good 3) click "Buy Now" for $0.00 You now own the book, for ever and ever or until the next EMP
  6. Flagged 'em Junkstack.   Keep posting them and I will keep flagging them.
  7. Aero Survival Rifle chambered in 9mm may be a good choice.   It uses AR furniture and Glock magazines.   http://www.tnwfirearms.com/product-p/asrx-cplt-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.htm   Link to video review by Carter Cutlery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaTguwvKiUE   My two cents worth.
  8.   Agreed TMF - it's the same here in Knoxville and Nashville.  Same a$$hats, who know the delivery schedules show up and buy up all they can.  It's the same across most of the country.  I suppose there are a few smaller communities where this isn't the case, but they have to be the exception. Even the ammo manufactures are claiming they are making more than ever - it's not a lack of production.   Here are a couple of great articles.   This is a great explanation, pay close attention to the "Demand" section: http://sierrabullets.wordpress.com/2014/04/07/why-cant-i-find-22-lr-ammunition/   This one is almost a year old, but still relevant: http://www.americanrifleman.org/article.php?id=26757&cat=27&sub=31&q=1   In the end, it boils down to too many people want something that is has become scarce because of increased demand.  Pile on the gougers and the hoarders...... you have the last two years.
  9. This a$$ just bought these this last weekend for $7.49 plus tax and now he is selling them for $18.00 each!!!!       http://www.armslist.com/posts/3574580/nashville-tennessee-ammo-for-sale--600-rounds-cci-standard-velocity--22-lr-40gr-1070fps-for-sale-     Grrrrrrr!

  11.   Well, as the old adage goes "a fool and his money are soon parted". As long as there are people out there willing to pay outrages amounts for something, scalpers will keep scalping. I sometimes wonder if they factor their fuel use into their "profit".... seems many of the folks reselling have a whole lot of time on their hands.   Hell, I'm shooting new 9mm for around 20 cents a round.  I can wait for .22 to come back, it eventually will.
  12. I agree with McGarrett - the need for OpSec is paramount.  I keep any discussion / speculation in the family (if at all). oddly enough, I have had family members just recently start talking about being prepared...  I have mentioned to my close family that have some food, ammo and reliable firearms is a good idea these days.   The ISIS crap and Ebola threat is creating, within my own family, some "believers".  They know I am an avid shooter and, since I have suggested they be prepared for an emergency, they are now asking advice.     I have made some suggestions and, believe it or not, made some reading suggestions: Patriots - Rawls One Second After - Forstchen 299 Days - Tate   I agree with Ugly and what he stated in his post above.  These are works of fiction, but I sincerely believe they give folks some insight into what "could be".
  13. I was at the WalMart in Oak Ridge on Sunday afternoon, I wandered back to the sporting goods department for the heck of it. There was a WM employee sort of lingering behind the counter, so I ask "still have CCI .22 in stock".   He says "yeah, I got like 7 left" and starts to reach for the lock on the ammo cabinet.   I said "ehhhhh... is it 100 round for $7.49?", he replies "yup" I said "I'll pass" and walked away....   It's nice to finally go to WalMart and find that the scalpers have not successfully cleaned it out by 10AM - but I'm still not paying that much.

  20. I appreciate the responses fellers - am following up with each of you privately.   Thanks RED333, I have already been buying from David - you are correct.... great prices, great guy.   -Jon
  21. Thanks for the brass info Dolomite. Thanks for the tumbler info Patton. -Jon
  22. Hey fellow TGOers, I'm getting ready to start reloading and thanks to David (dlm37015) and his great prices, I have purchase everything except brass.   I've been scavenging at the range, but not having much luck.   I want to start loading 9mm to begin with - so I need 9mm brass.   My next cartridge will the .223/5.56 - so I will eventually need .223/5.56   Also, if you have a rotary tumbler you have decided you no longer want or you upgraded - let me know.  I am leaning toward wet rotary tumbling with stainless steel media, but it will be a future investment unless a TGOer has something I might be able to use.   I will consider any reasonable prices..... Should you be so gracious as to donate it, I will buy you a beer!   :x:   Thanks all.   Jon - Knoxville (Karns area) 865.335.5422 cell
