  1. I bought a Savage 116 Trophy Hunter in 30-06 a couple of years back.  I would like to put an aftermarket stock on it and was looking for suggestions based on your personal experiences.  Looking for "best" in terms of weight, design, etc.  I am leaning toward a synthetic instead of wood.  I am also going to have to replace the mag and order the bottom metal from Savage to be able to continue to use the DBM as the one currently on my rifle uses that Axis mags, which have the plastic trim/clip piece instead of a separate mag release on the bottom of the rifle.  Anyway, just looking for thoughts to help guide my decision as some of you guys are wiser than you realize.  Thanks for your help...

  2. Outside Bass Pro and Sportmans Warehouse in Southaven, Avery outdoors is the only non-big box store there is in the area.  They have a pretty good selection but are hit and miss on popular powders.  Primers are available, as well as a pretty good selection of projectiles.  Averys is like Marshalls and T J Maxx.  You never know whats going to hit the shelf, but I can assure you it will be gone quickly.

yep...i got a couple of lbs of CFE and 1000rd once fired lake city brass from them about 6 weeks ago...should have bought more powder while they had it, but lesson learned.  just trying to not pay shipping+tax+hazmat ordering from midsouth shooters supply...

  3. Jacob - try Avery Outdoors in Memphis. Last time I was there they no longer had a designated reloader person but had sales going on the existing stock of supplies.

Bought 2 lbs of CFE from them about 6 weeks ago...they have been sold out since....the other stuff they have in stock isn't for 223....I actually bought 1000rds of once fired lake city brass from them as well.  They have great prices on their stuff, but I think they are not the best kept secret anymore...I call them about once per week or so just to see if they have anything in..they claim they are waiting on their distributor to ship their order to them...

  4. I know this is outside of another thread regarding but figured might get noticed sooner in a new post.  Looking for a retail store (non big box if possible) in west TN area that would sell powders/primers/bullets?  Started reloading 223 for plinking/training ammo and need to stock up a little more on powders, primers and bullets.  I can travel at the most to mid-TN, but would prefer not to if possible.  Also, been using CFE and AR Comp for my reloading.  Any other suggestions for reloading for AR?  Not looking for match ammo, just minute-of-man.  Someone I've spoken with also recommended BLC-2...thanks for any info you guys can provide...

  6. Man I hate to hear that, but glad things have calmed down. I'm not a whole lot younger than you and have had similar instances that have been my wake up call as well. I have always pretty much eaten whatever I wanted. I know what is healthy for me, but consistently chose the things that were bad for me. Sorta a bad trap to be in. With my desk job, I have just ballooned. I probably ate fast food 6 times per week (sometimes more sometimes less), I love steak, fish, chicken, shellfish, cheese, potatoes and anything fried. I think the good news for us is that we are young enough and a dietary change isn't as much a necessity like it would be if we just had bypass surgery or something. I was sitting in my desk chair during a slow day at work and it just hit me that I needed to not go on a diet, because diets are temporary, but needed to change the way I ate. One thing led to another and I watched a documentary (fact based documentary) called Forks Over Knives, you can find it on netflix. It will really help provide you some encouragement to eat healthier and to decrease the amount of animal products you consume. I don't overly care about animal rights, or believe in man made global warming...I hunt, I vote for freedom but I am also becoming more and more vegetarian/vegan. Yeah, I get made fun of a lot by my friends who know how masculine I am...:-) but all of them are fatter too. I'm not forever committing to eliminate animal products from my diet, but have seen enough evidence that consuming veggies, fruit, seeds, and nuts on a whole foods plant based diet will give you all the nutrition (i.e. protein) you need and its been proven to halt and even reverse heart disease.

I'm doing it for my own reasons, not to break stereotypes or anything. I just needed a radical change in how I eat and have chosen this. Its been really crazy so far in a good way. I feel the best I have ever felt which I wasn't expecting. My skin has completely cleared, my energy is consistent, i'm sleeping better, thinking better, i've lost 20lbs so far, and man I kid you not, I have ALWAYS had a stopped up nose in at least 1 nostril..well now I can breath through both. I mean YEARS of only breathing through 1 nostril and now even thats cleared up.

So, if I have totally weirded you out and opened myself up to chastising, I highly recommend the documentary. Its not hippie stuff, its fact based and its amazing we don't hear more about how a whole foods, plant based diet can solve a lot of our issues. At the very least, you will have knowledge and I'm convinced you will eat more fruit/veggies and less meat/cheese and you will be healthier. So good luck!

    Awesome post, thanks man!
  7. The body is complex system with Many worning sings that go unnoticed. Having been a nurse and paramedic for 25 years I have seen May that did not heed that warning This could be caused by many things. I would suggest you follow up soon with your Primary Care to get it check out. A very good possibility is Sleep Apnea. Although the it could be many others Do Not Wait for this to happen again to get it checked out

My PCP ran tests which all came back normal. My BP is still a little above normal, but doc said was most likely related to my weight being too high. He mentioned sleep apnea but I told him my wife hadn't ever mentioned it, she said she would start checking on me since I generally fall asleep before she does.

Basically just going to heed doc warning and work on diet and dropping some pounds, he said based on the test results being inconclusive would be the best for me along with periodically checking BP...
  8. The first thing you need to do is get your stress and anxiety under control. Make sure you follow your doctors recommendations and kinda chill. Let them diagnose your problems and treat your conditions. Prayers sent for a long life for you.................

    Thank you, very much appreciated..
  9. EKG was normal, BP was below hypertension level (has still been fluctuating), blood work still pending. Doc said I need to make some lifestyle changes or things could get worse later in life...

Started keeping a food journal and exercising...cutting out alcohol and sodas...hopefully it will doe some good...
  10. Yea, the nurse practitioner I saw today said the same thing...she seemed to feel I would be fine if I didn't feel worse. I feel much better than earlier this morning...just curious what the doc will find is wrong...
