  1. jwolf I live about an hour from Knoxville. I would say the closest thing to being able to practice bugging out would be to go backpacking that way all you will have is what you can carry. Maybe go to the AT (appalachian trail) for a couple day trip or Cades Cove which would be part of the AT also.
  2. Ya I tried that but it don't make it unbold. Thanks for the suggestion Broom.
  3. Any chance we could get a "mark as read" option in the new classifieds?
  4. Ok thanks folks I'm gonna get it out and shoot some more to make sure it wasn't me (the nut behind the grip) lol.
  5. Thanks Brian... I was only shooting SA. It just hurts me to think I gotta burn 400 rounds for the gun to shoot straight.
  6. Ok I only got to put 50 or so rounds through it that day so I'll get it out and shoot it more. kieefer yes mine has a little space under the sights just like that. Volzfan thanks for the picture! Everyone thanks for your input I'll let ya know next time I get to shoot. I'll put a couple hundred through it.
  7. Ok so my wife bought me a Beretta PX4 Storm for my wedding present which is freaking awesome but I go to the range to shoot it for the first time and at 20-25ft it's shooting 6 to 8 inches low!!!!! Ya I may not be the most accurate person but that close, I'm not that bad lol. Suggestions? Should I call Beretta? Don't know if it's normal or not but both the front and rear sight have a little space between the bottom of the sight and the top of the slide. Oh and the sights are only windage adjustable ofcourse.
  8. I'm not interested in paying someone to refinish them. I offered to attempt to restore them for free for him before they sit there and rust completely away. I'll be trying out a cold blue kit. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  9. Now a few post ago someone said it is the least destructive so which is it? lol Electrolysis or Navel Jelly, I'm going to have to reblue them anyway. Update: I got the shotgun loosened up and figured out what model it is a Ithaca Model 37 The Winchester Model 70 rifle I may try the Jelly on since I plan on camoing it.
  10. Like I said earlier the stocks didn't get burnt even the synthetic stock on the Win model 70 didn't melt so I don't think heat will be an issue just the rust.
  11. Got me some steel all thread for the metal in my electrolysis. That work or does it need to be a flat and wide piece?
  12. Ok thanks Navel jelly = my last resort if the electrolysis don't work.
  13. No these aren't my guns they are my father-in-laws I just offered to attempt to restore them.
  14. Hmm I'm gonna have to lube this one up just to get the wood off. This will be an interesting project. Shall I post weekly progress/fail pics? lol
  15. So I could put wood and all into the electrolysis solution? I may try that.
  16. It's definatly rust... The first gun I'm working on is a Winchester .243 WSSM the fire didn't even get hot enough to melt the synthetic stock so surely it couldn't have damaged the metal. I'll have to look at the others to remember what models they are but one is a Hawken .50cal muzzle loader with the brass stuff on it, two are single shot shotguns, and one is a bottom eject pump shot gun (not sure if I can fix this one it's froze up atm)
  17. Ok here's the deal my father-in-law had a house fire a few years back and the guns actually didn't get direct contact with the fire but the guns were in a basement for a few years and are rusted. I have started on one gun trying to get the rust off with number 3 steel wool and it's doing good but there's some spots that I can get off with it. I have access to a sand blaster, Do you guys think I could sand blast these guns then reblue them? Do you guy have a bluing kit that you would suggest? Thanks for input
