  1. Ok so it seems to retail for almost $300. Seem to be going for $250-280 around Knoxville for the SD version. I'd say $200 is more than fair Climbing stands are great for getting elevated on land you don't own or aren't familiar with. If you have a hunting lease or own property I would much rather have two fixed stands over a climber.

Thanks, Lumber_Jack! That is kind of what I was finding with my researching. Gonna let him know tonight that it's a go.

  2. So my buddy presented me with a chance to buy his used (2012 model) Viper SD stand. He is purchasing another better suited to traditional archery.  Wanted to see if anyone has experience with this?  I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on it as he upgraded the seat pad and added a foot rest.

  3. So after several days in the woods of seeing very little, I've jumped 3 doe on the way to my stand and then got busted by another one when I was retrieving a raccoon and left my bow in the stand. Well, I'm leaving my buddies parents house tonight which is probably half a mile from Radnor Lake area and what do I see? 3 doe and at least a 6-point buck in their side yard are just hanging out (time probable 8:45pm).  My wife and I just sat there watching them for a few minutes, and I was in awe of the time I've spent driving to Culleoka when I should have just gotten permission to hunt on their 1-2 acre lot. Such is life, and it is good to just see some deer too.

  4. Got to go by the Archery Den this morning.  It is a neat shop an apparent when you walk in that they work on the bows as well.  I got to spend some time talking with Ray as I was the only customer around for a while.  Told him I wanted to get into the sport for hunting, and he provided me a lot of information.  They don't have used bows but on the slightest occasion and are a Matthews dealer so that's what they like and sell the most of.  I left him my e-mail to give to an instructor that does an introductory bow course at their place for $20 and when the time comes to buy a bow, I will be back.  He assured me that if I gave a price I wanted to stay under that they'd have me set up and dialed in at 10 yards before I left.

Obviously I'm going to get a lower end bow since I am new to the sport, but Ray was very honest with me about which 2 bows to look at the most and even recommended the lower priced bow more highly!  Needless to say it is easy to trust someone when they are that open and honest.  Great experience and will hopefully be back there for intro class soon and to purchase a bow a little later.

  5. My letter to the two:

It has come to my attention that you recently voted in favor of gun control.  As a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and believer in upholding the Constitution of the United States of America, I find your action to be embarrassing.  I feel ashamed that you represent my state of Tennessee and do not possess the will nor judgment to uphold that which my state holds dear, the Constitution.

When I see senators like Ted Cruz and Rand Paul standing up for the people they represent, I am ashamed that my own senators do not support them.  You decisions and actions will not be unnoticed, and you will no longer have my support nor vote in the future as I can no longer trust you to make the right decisions and stand up for what is right.

  6. So I am wanting to start bow hunting this year.  I will mainly be going after deer and have no experience.  Looking for a place or person that could point me in a direction to get started.  I've got a couple months before my birthday rolls around as far as getting an actual bow.  But I would at least like to know what fits me the best.

    Thanks for the help!

  7. I like boxers a lot. They are very pretty. Never really been around them though. Seem like really good dogs.

We've had ours since she was 8wks old...I never thought I would get a boxer until I spent a summer abroad.  The person I was with ended up dog sitting for a family that had a boxer.  She stayed with us for 6 weeks, and I fell in love.  They are high energy and need lots of exercise and things to chew on, but when they get sleepy or tired they are the best to cuddle with.  They are an unbelievably sweet dogs and love being around people.

  8. I've got 2.  Boxer (Rori) is almost 2 and Black dog mix (Rambo) we rescued almost a year ago and think he is close to 3. They are good dogs when fed and exercised.

Rambo-we think he is border collie and golden mix.

Sometime they wrestle, and we catch them.

But usually they are pretty sweet.
