  1. Just got mine configured, but going to carry a copy of mine. I already carried copies of rulings about "pistol-to-rifle-to-pistol" and "constructive possession" since I toted a "kit" for a while with one lower and both rifle and pistol uppers.

    I also will carry the ruling about the 26"/VFG thang too since mine is currently configured that way.

    Additional note: Just got this baby together in current confiig, and will be changing handguard, but going to make the VFG quick detach, because under exact wording of TN statutes, I can only carry or transport a "handgun" loaded with one in chamber, or transport a "rifle or shotgun" loaded without one in chamber, and with the VFG on it, it's neither. Not that your average LEO would necessarily know the finer points of ATF rulings, but no sense having such a gray area just in case.

    Nice looking 'pistolfirearmish' LEO pop-quiz implement!  Gotta love its completely-legal, yet mischievously-defiant nature!

    Edit: Didn't mean that negatively at all....I think it's awesome.

  2. Just had shoulder surgery Thursday, so I'm hoping to be back on the shotgun in a couple o' weeks to double check the patterning...hope so, anyway :x: .  I'm with Nick and Whiskey....after I get a couple in the bag with Hevi13 I'm planning on trying to behead one with some 2.5" 100 gr. Guillotines.  Pretty much relegated to the crossbow, as I likely will never be able to pull and hold a bow again.

    Either way, I'm probably gonna be living vicariously through this little 'un.  Gonna try to get her on some birds with both gun and bow at some point.  She's 10 and chompin' harder at the bit than even I am.

  3. Hey Dave.....good on ya for this.

    Put my name in the hat for my 10 year old daughter.  If won, it would be hers and hers alone to use to become addicted to thunderchickens like I am.  She's got a youth 20 gage and is wanting to learn the 'craft.'

    Thanks - John

  4. Sadly I have 65000 rounds of both lot numbers combined. I sent Winchester an email stating I have some of there recalled ammo but no word back from them.
    I be damned though if they want it back before sending me the exact amount I have stored and I sure ain't taking a refund for this when street value is roughly 150.00 per 1000 rounds

    After that post, lemme know if you hear any helicopters flying low nearby. :tinfoil:

  5.

    Olin Corporation, through its Winchester Division, is recalling two (2) lots of M*22â„¢ 22 Long Rifle 40 Grain Black Copper Plated Round Nose rimfire ammunition.

    Symbol Number: S22LRT
    Lot Numbers: GD42L and GD52L

    Winchester has determined the above lots of 22 Long Rifle rimfire ammunition may contain double powder charges. Ammunition with double powder charges may subject the shooter or bystanders to a risk of serious personal injury and/or death, or cause firearm damage, rendering the firearm inoperable.

    Actually, I have it on good account that lot numbers 0 thru ∞ are affected.  You should send all suspect rounds to me for testing.  I will let you know if you have a claim so you can then contact Winchester with validated data. :cool:

    Tapatalk ate my spelling.

    Wow. That's some serious S&M-bondage-gimpsuit for the wealthy! I imagine you could even OC in that and nobody would even notice.
  7. Hmmm.  I'm wondering if you can somehow mount a bullet cam behind the scope on a flip-to-side, quick detach mount like used with a magnifier.  This way, with a couple of top-mounted picatinny rails attached to the scope one could conceivably place the viewfinder, the powerpack, and the IR source on a single platform where you can opt to use the scope with or without.

    Also wondering about deconstructing a security cam and separating the ring of IR lighting for placement around the outside of the scope like a ring flash on a DSLR.

    Dolomite, you are one thought-provoking, creative individual!

  8. Here's the recipe I like:

    1 of those netting bags of cherry tomatoes

    1 yellow tomato

    2 cloves garlic

    1 small slice of Vidalia onion

    Handful of cilantro

    Juice of half a lime (scrape out pulp and include it)

    1/2- 1 Serrano pepper (take the seeds out if you don't like much heat) depending on your taste

    Salt/Pepper to taste

    I use a small processer like a Ninja

    Take a small handful of tomatoes, the cilantro, Serrano, lime juice/pulp, garlic, and onion and process it until it's almost liquid;

    Pour it in bowl when processed;

    Process the rest of tomatoes and yellow tomato until chunky (some like small, some like larger) and mix in with processed cilantro, lime, etc. in bowl;

    stir it up and add salt pepper to taste;

    if you want more heat, mince up more Serrano and add it.

    Let it sit overnight to blend.

    It's usually kind of frothy at first because of processing the cilantro, lime, etc. to almost liquid, but it 'defroths' over night.

    The reason I use the cherry tomatoes is because large tomatoes have too much juice and not enough flesh, and make the salsa too thin.

  9. Knew a guy that OC'd a lot.  Once, a rival for his girlfriend's affections saw him out and claimed the individual in question was 'brandishing' the weapon, and had 'threatened' him with it (both untrue, but was visible plainly on his hip).  Eventually turned out OK for the guy, and the guy who was stirring up stuff was charged with filing a false report.  But....it took some strife to sort it out, including temporary confiscation of his weapon, interviews, police interaction, some lawyer $$, yada yada.  Point being is if it wasn't OC'd the troublemaker couldn't have made what initially seemed to be a 'valid' claim because he wouldn't have been able to describe the weapon.  There is a whole host of reasons that I feel people really don't need to know what's being carried.  It (IMHO) is a simple risk/reward decision.  I, personally, don't OC because people just don't need to know until they 'need' to know.  If you want to exercise your right to OC, that's great.  But please don't berate those of us that opine that "I think we should have the right to carry but I don't think you should open carry, open carrying is asking for trouble."  ‘Trouble’ that is perceived isn’t always just the ‘bad guy’ shooting you first.

  10. Have been a 1911 fanboy for years, recent Tupperware convert, but still love the 1911's....granted, this is only a '1911' on the outside.  However, it shoots great, has had 4000+ downrange with the only FTFs (less than 10 or so) all being from lead handloaded semi-wadcutters.  They were loaded light and short-cycled the action some.

    Nevertheless, just wondering if any of you have/had any of the Para LDA guns.  I know they had kind of a bad reputation for a while, but I seem to have gotten lucky as mine runs/shoots better than the Kimbers I cycled through my possession.

    (Stock photo, but just like mine)

  11. I may have been mistaken on the year. Dad took me the first year TWRA came out to the extension agency office to teach the class. Was assuming 1975 since that's what the TWRA website listed http://www.tn.gov/twra/huntered.html. Either way, I've checked with TWRA and they didn't have me on record even though dad still has the patch and the booklet from when I took the course. Even went to the old police range to fire the shotgun with the class. They did a SSN search and nada.
